  2. 'It's a penalty'published at 16:17 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2021

    Dion Dublin
Former Man Utd striker on Final Score

I've seen the replays a few times, you can see it hits Kyle Bartley's right hand below his elbow. It's a penalty.

Why wouldn't they look at that. Is that not a clear and obvious error?

That's a good strike too from the 10 men! Matheus Pereira is the class of the field and he laces a left-footed drive narrowly wide from 22 yards.

Burnley now win a corner. Game is finding its feet.

  4. CLOSE!published at 58 mins

    Burnley 0-0 West Brom

Burnley putting the pressure on now. Jay Rodriguez throws himself at a cross, doesn't get there but it comes off the knee of Okay Yokuslu and slides just wide.

    Burnley 0-0 West Brom

I think the ball may have just touched the thigh of Kyle Bartley before it hit his arm which may have saved him.

That has got to be a penalty. Mike Dean has walked away he's not interested - but that is a clear hand ball to me. Surely they've got to have a look at that?

  8. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 53 mins

    Burnley 0-0 West Brom

Another appeal for handball, against Kyle Bartley this time! Again, the defender had his arm well away from his body. West Brom get away with it on this occasion.

Matt: You would hope Burnley would be able to take advantage of having an extra man. Not only will it make it easier in set play scenarios, but should make build up to an open play goal easier. Second lowest goals scored in the league though.

Allan: So once again Mike Dean makes a bad decision to make sure that the focus is on him not the match

Take a defender off and stick Joel Mumbongo on, Dyche!

Although his lack of senior attacking options on a depleted bench probably explains why he won't make any changes just yet.

The expectation now is all on Burnley in the way you create chances and put pressure on the opposition defence. Sam Allardyce is set up in a simple 4-4-1 and if you're a 4-4-1 you're still a hard team to break down.

I actually think West Brom have a better chance of winning it in this second half.

    BBC Sport at Turf Moor

My seat in the press box affords a tremendous view over the stand where the managers are across to a fairly steep hill, with houses towards the bottom and what is probably a superb walk across the tops.

One of the TV cameras panned in to a couple of hardy souls who were near the top. It looked like they were about to be blown away.

It's bad enough in the stadium. Goodness knows how windy it is up there.

Burnley will have an extra man and the wind in their favour in this half. FORWARDS!

    Burnley 0-0 West Brom

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Turf Moor

Referee Mike Dean was explaining his decision to Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Darnell Furlong as they left the pitch at half-time.

He was motioning as if to say Semi Ajayi had moved his hand towards the ball, hence the red card.

Jon: The range of responses to that red card (correct in my view) underlines the absolute impossible job that refs are expected to do. The sense of entitlement amongst football fans is very particular to that sport.

Only Newcastle (9) have failed to direct a single shot on target in the first half of a PL game this season more often than Burnley (8)

If it stays like this, West Brom will be 11 points behind 17th-placed Newcastle having played a game more.

Burnley will be nine points clear of the drop zone.

  20. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:48 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2021

No goals, one red card, zero consensus. Mike Dean finds himself quizzed by West Brom defenders as they come off the field.
