TheTurboBear: I think people are hugely overestimating Tuchel's impact so far. Yes, Chelsea's results improved, but the style of play has not really changed, and hasn't really improved. They're still not as convincing as they should be.

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho, speaking to BBC MOTD: "I don't think it was a performance from another galaxy but we were solid. We needed a game where the players could express themselves against a team that never gives up.

"Until the last minute we had to defend two corners. We had a clean sheet because we wanted a clean sheet. It's something we have not been having."

On Gareth Bale's performance: "We know the quality he has. I don't want to say that [he is 100% back to his best]. We don't need the Gareth Bale of five or six years ago. That player wouldn't be here - he'd be at Real Madrid.

"He is winning duels and you saw his speed and direction."

Burnley

Burnley manager Sean Dyche speaking to BBC MOTD: "You come to a Tottenham side that have been questioned, when teams are on a tough run it very rarely lasts. Really poor start from our point of view, no one is alive to it. Any nervousness or oddness we bring to these games, that calmed it all down.

"You have to give credit to the opposition, they looked alive, alert, everyone has been surprised by the run they had - they showed energy, mainly on transition. Their quality showed in the right areas and we couldn't find those quality moments.

"When you are not quite on it, good sides find you out. But we have to make sure it doesn't happen very often. We gave it away too much.

"The power, quality, intent they show. Harry Kane is first class, but other players around him, sides like this their bad runs very rarely continue - that's partly down to us but you have to give credit to a very good Tottenham team."

Chelsea have won just two of the past 10 meetings in all competitions, drawing three times and losing five.

Manchester United have won on their last three away trips to Stamford Bridge in all competitions. They have never recorded four straight victories at Chelsea.

Chelsea have failed to score in three consecutive league meetings despite attempting 41 shots.

Chelsea

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel to Sky Sports on starting Hakim Ziyech ahead of Timo Werner: "He is a different kind of player. He deserves it. He had a good impact against Atletico. The feeling was to give Timo [Werner] a little break. He was a bit tired after many games in a row. It will let other guys perform who deserve it."

How do you deal with Bruno Fernandes? "Leave him out is the best way for us! Give him a rest!

"We have guys who can take care of him. We trust N'Golo [Kante] and [Mateo] Kovacic to take care of him. He [Fernandes] is a key player. He is the guy who delivers passes. He just needs one opening and can be a threat with the guys up front and their speed. Of course, a quality player but we have quality players."

On his record vs Man Utd as a manager: "It's relevant in the matter that we have experience with the players and we know them very well. There is a general knowledge but we focus on the preparation of the team. We picked out things we wanted to show. In England I beat them twice so since we are in England today, let's keep going this way!"

Burnley

Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope: "Never helps, coming to big away grounds like this you need to have a good start - we shot ourselves in the foot and it was always going to be uphill from there.

"You have to give a performance and try and get a result, try and nick one and build from there. It is about the long-term project and moving forward as a team. They are a very good team and we made mistakes.

"The finishing was top drawer, I made a couple of saves but the shots they had were high level. Sometimes you get away with those, but higher up the quality of strikers you don't as much.

"When we went forward, they seemed to come back at us twice as fast. The ball would turn over and they come back flying. You have to try and counteract that as best you can, it's part of playing this team."

Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho on Sky Sports: "We needed three points for the table, for the players to have a smile. That is the most important thing. We needed a good victory in the Premier League.

"We were quite clinical, it is very good to start the game and first chance to score, third chance score second goal and a half-time to be winning 3-0. That is important for a team thats not playing especially well, losing matches.

"Normally we start and first mistake we concede a goal, today things went in a different direction. Burnley fight until the end and that kept us on our toes, I don't remember Hugo Lloris making a great save and we were in control from the beginning.

"We need points, I believe lately in the Premier League we have had periods playing well and of course we need points. Today we got them in quite a solid way, we need that. Lots of matches to play in March, lots of difficult ones, plus Europa League. It is good to have players back.

On Gareth Bale: "I am very happy for him, very happy for the team because the team needs his talent. I am very happy for him because he is quiet, doesn't speak to you, watches, reads, listens or probably not, because he had all that from Real Madrid, probably ignores it a little bit.

"I am happy because when his condition is good he can do things like today - his game was very good, not just scoring, changing speeds, going inside. I am very happy for him."

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham's Gareth Bale, speaking to BBC MOTD: "The most important thing is we knew we've not been on a great run and it was important to get back to winning ways.

"It's not just about scoring. It's about our all-round play and helping the team. I'm delighted with the goals and the assist and whatever I can do for the team.

"I've been happy all season. In the dressing room I feel comfortable and I'm having fun. I'm happy and I'm sure it's showing on the pitch.

"I wasn't upset to be substituted. There are a lot of games to come. It's important to keep building minutes each game."

Chelsea are unbeaten in nine matches in all competitions, eight of them under new boss Thomas Tuchel.

They have taken 17 points from their past eight league fixtures, the division's third-best total over that period.

Only leaders Manchester City have conceded fewer goals than Chelsea's tally of 25.

But Chelsea are yet to score more than twice in any of their six league games under Tuchel.

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham forward Gareth Bale speaking to Sky Sports: "It was good, I have been building up a little bit to get fully fit - felt comfortable and my form is coming back, it's nice to help the team

"It's understandable, it's been a while so I just continue to work hard. I know you get criticism but I am experienced enough to keep my head down, not say anything stupid and keep plugging away."

On his second goal: "When you are in that position you try and use the guy to bend the ball around him, nice to see it go in and that really killed the game."

On playing with the likes of Harry Kane and Son heung-min: "Playing with them is why I came here and what I wanted to do - it's great to be on the pitch and feeling good, hopefully we can kick on from this and get some confidence.

"We know football isn't fair sometimes and people will criticise but all we can do inside is keep going, and we showed that today."

Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer speaking to Sky Sports: "Mason [Greenwood] has done well. You will probably see Anthony [Martial] play. I have good enough forwards to choose from!

"We need to play a good game. Hopefully we can get the three points. We of course want to close the gap to the top. We know Chelsea are behind us but we want to perform how we want to perform.

"It will be hard to get the ball off them so we need to press high, get on the front foot and find the spaces. We need to be good on the ball and play through them.

Manchester United have lost just once in 19 Premier League fixtures, winning 12 games and drawing six.

They are unbeaten in a top-flight club record 19 away league games, recording 13 victories and six draws. That run began with a 2-0 win at Chelsea in February 2020.

Their total of 49 points is 14 more than they had at this stage of last season.

Manchester United won convincingly enough in the end against Newcastle last weekend - but they had a wobble, like they do in most games.

United have been excellent on the road this season but you just know that Chelsea will make it difficult for them.

Chelsea and Manchester United are both right in the thick of things when it comes to that battle for a top four spot.

A win for Chelsea would see them leapfrog West Ham and into fourth, while Manchester United could move three points clear of third-placed Leicester following their defeat to Arsenal earlier today.

More crucially, Manchester United could be nine points clear of Chelsea in fifth with a win too.

If you're a Tottenham fan watching that you'll be happy - the first half set up how they played in the second half so they go and score another in the second half. They could've made it five or six probably but Nick Pope made a few crucial saves but Spurs fan will be happy.

Back to the drawing board for Burnley, these aren't the games that will define Burnley's season but they need to start winning because they are going to get sucked in.
