FT: Reading 1-1 Everton; Bristol City 0-5 Chelsea

It's been a Valentine's Day to cherish for Chelsea fans as the Blues moved further clear at the WSL summit.

Bristol City, meanwhile, are clinging to the hope their love affair with the top flight won't be ended this spring.

And Everton and Reading really entered into the spirit of the day by sharing and caring at the Madejski.

It's been a blast - so we'll wish you a good evening and hope you enjoy that romantic Sunday night supper. Until next time.

    Bristol City 0-5 Chelsea

At the other end of the table, Bristol City remain bottom but boss Matt Beard will have seen enough from recent performances to hope they can escape relegation.

They showed mettle against Chelsea too today when it would have been easy to fold against a side that put nine past them in September.

City's vastly inferior goal difference means they are, in effect, three points behind 11th-placed West Ham, who have played a game fewer, but the Robins still have eight matches to play.

FT: Reading 1-1 Everton; Bristol City 0-5 Chelsea

Reigning champions Chelsea remain the team to catch at the top of the Women's Super League, then.

They avoided a repeat of last Sunday's shock defeat by Brighton to move five points clear of nearest rivals Manchester City, who have a game in hand and who must play Chelsea before the end of the season.

City's win over Manchester United on Friday leaves the battle for the title looking increasingly like a two-horse race.

Reading's seventh draw in 15 games leaves them and Everton locked on 19 points, playing surely only for pride in mid-table.

The final whistle brings an end to Bristol City's misery as WSL leaders Chelsea complete the formalities of a 5-0 win at Twerton Park.

Victory moves the Blues five points clear of second-placed Manchester City, although the latter do have a game in hand.

Fran Kirby's first-half double put Chelsea in cruise control, with Pernille Harder, Sam Kerr and Beth England also on target.

So close to a sixth for the visitors but fantastic defending from Gemma Evans denies Sam Kerr.

The Australia striker looked to be striding clear to meet a through ball but Evans kept pace and ultimately deflected her effort on goal over the bar.

Into three minutes of added time.

Another chance for Bristol City to restore pride with a goal of their own but Chelsea keeper Ann-Katrin Berger saves well with her legs to stop Abi Harrison finding Charlie Wellings for a probable tap-in.

    Bristol City 0-5 Chelsea

While a 5-0 scoreline is never going to be nice to be on the end of, Bristol City might feel strangely content.

They have never been overwhelmed in this one - Chelsea have just been clinical with the majority of chances they have created.

Nine shots on target - five converted.

Another good save from Sophie Baggaley, who has been Bristol City's stand-out performer.

Fran Kirby cuts inside on her left foot on the edge of the box, seeking her hat-trick, and tries to find the bottom corner with a curler but Baggaley dives to turn it behind for a corner.

A real chance for Bristol City to claim a consolation as Ebony Salmon bursts forward from the inside left channel.

She advances into the box and, facing up to a defender, shifts the ball slightly to create space, only to fire comfortably over.
