  1. goal

GOAL: Bristol City 0-2 Chelseapublished at 15:38 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2021

    Pernille Harder (36 mins)

What a signing Pernille Harder has been for Chelsea.

The Blues' second goal is as much about Sophie Ingle's determination as Harder's finish.

Ingle wins the ball in the Bristol City box with a fine challenge and Harder does the rest, lashing her seventh WSL goal of the season past Sophie Baggaley.

    Reading 1-0 Everton

Deanna Cooper has produced countless blocks in this second half and the Reading centre-back adds to that tally to thwart Everton's Australian sub Hayley Raso's 20-yard strike.

The Toffees' corner comes to nothing, similar to most of their second-half set-pieces.

    Reading 1-0 Everton

Reading have offered very little going forward in the second half at the Madejski, content to protect their lead and counter occasionally.

They are closing in on the three points with just under 20 minutes to go.

  4. CLOSE!published at 15:32 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2021

    Bristol City 0-1 Chelsea

Ji So-Yun fashioned a great chance for Sam Kerr earlier and now she's set one up for Beth England.

The South Korea midfielder's cut-back picks out England perfectly but she can't quite wrap her left foot around it and she fires into the side netting.

    Bristol City 0-1 Chelsea

A real worry for Bristol City as top scorer Ebony Salmon is down after a blow to the head.

You feel the new England call-up carries with her the Robins' best chance of managing to get anything from this game.

She's back on after a short period of treatment but doesn't look 100%.

    Bristol City 0-1 Chelsea

As you might expect with the recent weather, it's a really poor surface at Twerton Park but Chelsea are making light of that.

Emma Hayes' league leaders are pinging passes around with precision as they hunt a killer second goal.

Bristol City, to their credit, are defending stoutly.

    Reading 1-0 Everton

Decent spell, this for the Toffees.

However, Deanna Cooper is the heroine for Reading with two vital blocks.

She gets in the way of strikes from Jill Scott and Izzy Christiansen that would certainly have been threatening the Reading goal.

Half an hour remaining at the Madejski.

    Reading 1-0 Everton

A bit of a let-off for Royals keeper Grace Moloney.

She comes for, and misses, Claire Emslie's inswinging corner but is relieved to see that everyone else misses it too and the ball goes out for a goal-kick.

    Bristol City 0-1 Chelsea

The Robins will need to batten down the hatches now.

They lost 9-0 at Chelsea in September, remember.

The Blues' goal difference of +35 is exactly the same as second-placed Manchester City so they will want more.

  10. goal

    Fran Kirby (13 mins)

    It's been coming.

Ironically, the goal came from Bristol City's first real prolonged attacking spell.

They win a corner and think they should have had another but Chelsea break to win a flag-kick of their own.

Maren Mjelde's near-post delivery gets the faintest of touches from the head of England striker Fran Kirby who wheels away in delight.

    Bristol City 0-0 Chelsea

This is shaping up to be one of those attack v defence training drills.

Fran Kirby sees a shot deflected off target by a last-ditch City lunge and then Beth England balloons over from close range, although the offside flag was up.

    Reading 1-0 Everton

We're back under way in Berkshire by the way but there looks set to be a lengthy stoppage after a clash of heads from a corner involving Reading defender Deanna Cooper, who is receiving treatment.

She's sitting up now but the physios appear concerned.

  13. CLOSE!published at 15:09 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2021

    Bristol City 0-0 Chelsea

    Chelsea's best chance yet.

Ji So-Yun's near-post cross is begging to be headed home but Sam Kerr somehow heads wide.

This could be 3-0 after six minutes. Instead it's goalless. Somehow.

  14. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:08 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2021

    Bristol City 0-0 Chelsea

I have a feeling the 'great save' heading might be in for a fair bit of use this afternoon.

Fantastic work from Fran Kirby in the Bristol City box and the ball breaks to Jonna Andersson but her effort is brilliantly foiled by a diving Sophie Baggaley.

Kirby blazes the rebound over and this is one-way traffic.

  15. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:05 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2021

    Bristol City 0-0 Chelsea

Almost a goal inside a minute for Chelsea but Bristol City keeper Sophie Baggaley makes a superb save to thwart Pernille Harder's close-range effort.

  16. KICK-OFFpublished at 15:01 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2021

    Bristol City 0-0 Chelsea

Robins striker Ebony Salmon, who this week received her first England call-up, gets us under way at Twerton Park.

  17. Chelsea look to avoid another shockpublished at 14:59 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2021

Bristol City v Chelsea (15:00 GMT)

In the most surprising result of the Women's Super League season last weekend, Chelsea saw their 33-game unbeaten run halted by a 2-1 defeat at home to mid-table Brighton.

As jaw-dropping as that scoreline was, it would be eclipsed if Bristol City were to beat the Blues today.

Chelsea showed no ill-effects from the end of their run in midweek as they bounced back with a thoroughly impressive 3-0 triumph over Arsenal.

  18. Can Robins stay up?published at 14:57 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2021

Bristol City v Chelsea (15:00 GMT)

As recently as two weeks ago, bottom side Bristol City looked destined for relegation from the Women's Super League.

At that stage, they had amassed just two points from 11 games and suffered several heavy defeats that had left their goal difference far inferior to their relegation rivals.

But a 3-0 win over Brighton - their first and, thus far, solitary victory of the league season - and a 1-1 draw at West Ham have raised hopes they can escape the sole WSL relegation spot.

Anything today, you suspect, would be a bonus, but they can climb off the bottom with a win. Stranger things have happened...

Biggest WSL wins.Image source, BBC Sport

Bristol City will want to forget the last time they played Chelsea - back in September, almost five months ago to the day.

The Blues racked up nine goals that day to register the second-biggest win in Women's Super League history.

The Robins hold the unwanted distinction of being on the wrong end of the two record hammerings - an 11-1 defeat by Arsenal in December 2019 topping the list.
