I don't want to spout cliches but... it's a game of two halves now!

You wouldn't pick who was bottom of the league in this game and which team is in the top four going for the Champions League now.

It's very much close and Sheffield United are playing with a rhythm which makes them believe they can score.

That corner is cleared at the front post by the rattled Chelsea defence. And breathe.

Thomas Tuchel is not happy with how the game has turned and decides to make two more changes.

Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz replace Billy Gilmour and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Gaps are appearing in the Chelsea backline, their confidence fragile all of a sudden. Jayden Bogle tries to latch onto a pass over the top on the right, Kurt Zouma timing a poke of the foot to perfection to stop Bogle shooting. Corner...

Glorious opportunity - David McGoldrick is in there on his own, no one near him he just has to hit the target. Great ball from John Lundstrum, whipped over the top of the defender's head. Cesar Azpilicueta just watches and hopes it goes past. Dear oh dear. That's what can happen if you keep to the game nice and tight but that was the moment, you've got to cash in.

Suddenly the Blades have the bit between their teeth. Oli McBurnie has a pop from distance and Kepa Arrizalabalaga has to fling himself to his right to push away to safety.

Sheffield United have got Chelsea spread out and are passing and are in the game. What a great ball and David McGoldrick has done everything right! I'm still bemused that chance has gone wide.

No wonder McGoldrick was wincing and shaking his head. The replay makes it look even worse.

But it has given encouragement to the Blades...

Oh my word! Has to score. David McGoldrick finds space in the Chelsea box to meet a delicious cross from the right - and heads wide with the goal gaping.

Mason Mount has also moved into a more advanced position for the home side after that double change by Thomas Tuchel.

The Blues skipper for the day gamely chases down a pass back to Aaron Ramsdale.

Sheffield United are still in this game. They are only a goal down after that Christian Pulisic miss. They have had some chances and one goal will lift their tails, lift their spirits, because now we can see a little bit of energy from this team. In the first half we didn't see any of that.

That's interesting that he's bringing two defenders on - says a lot about the manager. Chelsea look a bit vulnerable so maybe Thomas Tuchel just wants to make the changes to get some of the first team players on just to be a bit more solid at the back.

Off go Olivier Giroud and Andreas Christensen. On come Reece James and Cesar Azpilicueta.

Hmm, interesting. Looks like Hudson-Odoi is going through the middle.

Relief for Jagielka and the Blades. The visitors clear the corner before a poor delivery from Billy Gilmour eases the pressure.

After growing up on the mean pitches of the Doncaster Sunday Alliance League I'm all for the ref letting some of the physical stuff go. But I completely agree with Lewis.

Arjun Singh: I’ve lost all respect for Sheffield Utd. The dirty tackles on Pulisic (systematic targeting) is a sign of a poor club, out of ideas of how to win by playing football.

Nice try from Kurt Zouma. The Chelsea defender gives it the universal signal for 'I got the ball, ref' when he takes a chunk of David McGoldrick. Blades free-kick just inside the home half.

Much more positive from Sheffield United. Phil Jagielka won't mind being one on one with Olivier Giroud - he's not going to sprint away from you. Sheffield United can just try and hold the ball up, get more players involved. We've got a bit of a game on now. They will be thinking 'we can put Chelsea under pressure.'
