    As unfortunate as Alexander-Arnold's injury is, it opens the door for what I see as a correction of the previously announced competition squad. Ward-Prowse' omission from the squad was shortsighted. The amount of free-kicks won by Grealish' tricky footwork last season combined with Ward-Prowse' dead ball ability could make for a deadly late game partnership. Imagine being a goal down with 20 to play and unleashing Grealish' energy and pace against a tired defense, with JWP on hand to capitalise from the inevitable set pieces Grealish will win. Foolish not to capitalise.

    I cannot believe the high line Romania are playing. They're allowing James Ward-Prowse to play a ball into an area and it is Dominic Calvert-Lewin who gets a header onto it. It's a free header but it is from 18 yards out and he just crashes it onto the bar. Nita was well beaten. He was nowhere near it at all.

    Where would the 11 currently playing for England finish in the PL? 7th, 8th? Lower? Even their first choice 11 would struggle to get into the top four. England have one world class player, the semi finals would be a dream tournament.

    Dominic Calvert-Lewin is getting a little bit frustrated. He thrives on crosses into the box and when you've got two wingers who like to square the defenders up in 1 v 1 situations, they're not really going to get it to the byline and cross the ball in. They're looking for cut backs and it's going to be a little bit of a different game for Calvert-Lewin

    For me playing as close to the starting 11 as possible is not always about the opposition. Surely it gets the team used to playing together builds close partnerships on the pitch that you can't replicate in training. Some of these players will be playing together for the first time in the opening game which doesn't seem right.

    Marcus Rashford will have wanted to play in this game. He understands the quality of players in the wide positions that England have at their disposal. Him and Luke Shaw have been arguably England's best assets so far in this game along with Jack Grealish, but England are so strong down this left side.
