  1. Azzurri romping to recordpublished at 20:23 British Summer Time 8 September 2021

Roberto Mancini's European champions Italy have established a 4-0 lead inside half an hour, with Everton forward Moise Kean - who has re-joined Juventus on loan - getting two.

Some claim Italy have already beaten the longest unbeaten streak in the world history of the national teams, but Brazil insist they also went 36 games unbeaten between1993 and 1996. The confusion is over a match during that run against a Romania B side.

Italy are making all those arguments meaningless.

West Ham's Pablo Fornals has given Spain the lead in Kosovo, while Belgium lead in Belarus.

England's group rivals Albania lead San Marino 1-0 to move above Poland into second in the 'as it stands' table.

If Poland score, the noise level is going to go right up through the roof and into space.

Lewandowski just couldn't get there quickly enough to make sure he lifted the ball over Jordan Pickford. England just about got away with it.

Lewandowski looks as though he could put the ball in the net with just a half-chance.

    Injury concern for England?

Defender John Stones has sat down on the deck and two physios sprint on to take a look at the Manchester City player.

Pep Guardiola may be without his Brazilian players on Sunday, he won't want to lose another of his troops.

Now a loose Polish pass is picked up by Raheem Sterling deep in the final third but Harry Kane is swarmed by a number of home shirts when he receives the ball on the edge of the box.

England haven't really got going in attack so far.

  5. Postpublished at 32 mins

    Poland 0-0 England

England give the ball away on the halfway line courtesy of Raheem Sterling and Jakub Moder's eyes light up, striking a shot from 25 yards out which is not troubling Jordan Pickford.

  6. CLOSE!published at 29 mins

    Poland 0-0 England

A first sniff of goal for Robert Lewandowski.

The Bayern Munich man shows real desire to get on the edge of a dinked pass into the box, outmuscling Kalvin Phillips and holding off Luke Shaw but then lofting his shot straight into the hands of Jordan Pickford.

That was a real opening, didn't get enough purchase on the ball.

Closing in on the half hour mark and England have had 63% possession so far.

Not made too many inroads on the Polish goal though.

No goals in Warsaw but Italy, Germany and Hungary have all stretched their leads.

It was a good chance, the ball was just going back a little bit, Harry Kane couldn't get over the top of it and attack it. The ball was a bit high.

He headed it down and it was never going to beat the goalkeeper. The defender was able to hack it clear.

  10. CLOSE!published at 21 mins

    England should lead.

Lovely work by Raheem Sterling down the right hand side, getting past his marker and clipping a cross into the box.

Skipper Harry Kane is unmarked and tries to send a header back across goal but Pawel Dawidowicz retreats to hack clear.

Kane needed to power that in instead of trying a cute one.

Poland are being roared on by this packed crowd and it is clear so much hope rests, understandably, on Robert Lewandowski but England just trying to settle things down, take the intensity out of the situation and create opportunities of their own.

That's the first time in four decisions that we've got something, because the referee couldn't give a goal kick, he had to give England the corner.

Poland got everyone back there, mainly in the six-yard box in front of the keeper.

  14. Postpublished at 18 mins

There looked to be trouble for England on this move but Adam Buksa cannot get on the end of a well aimed cross inside the penalty area by Tymoteusz Puchacz.

It was excellent defending by Harry Maguire, easing his man away from the ball.

Now Kamil Jozwiak goes in hard on Jack Grealish.

That was worse than the Kalvin Phillips challenge, much worse, stretching and not in control of his body and catching the £100m man.

The referee just has a word on this occasion.

Thinking of a word starting with 'con' and ending in 'sistency'.

  20. Phillips must be carefulpublished at 19:57 British Summer Time 8 September 2021

Kalvin Phillips needs to watch himself now. He caught one Poland player late early on and now he's on a very early yellow card. Phillips was not happy but must maintain his discipline.
