    Republic of Ireland 3-0 Qatar

I didn't get to roll this one out on Saturday, but that's the Republic of Ireland's first hat-trick since Robbie Keane's treble against Gibraltar in 2014.

In fact, Callum Robinson becomes the first Republic player not named Robbie Keane to score one since David Connolly in 1997.

    Republic of Ireland 3-0 Qatar

    There's the hat-trick!

It's a lovely goal. Jeff Hendrick drives forward into space, plays a perfectly weighted pass into Robinson, whose shot takes a slight deflection and slips underneath the goalkeeper.

What a night for the West Brom man.

  3. goal

GOAL - Todor Nedelevpublished at 20:55 British Summer Time 12 October 2021

    Bulgaria 1-1 Northern Ireland

    This wasn't in the script...

A cross from the left takes a deflection off Tom Flanagan and it falls kindly for Todor Nedelev.

Quick as a flash, the midfielder swivels and fires a low finish into the bottom corner from 12 yards. Bailey Peacock-Farrell had no chance!

Bulgaria have started the half well here and have won a couple of corners in quick succession.

So far Northern Ireland are standing firm.

Why yes, that is noted Irish Premiership referee Keith Kennedy.

He's the man with the whistle at the Aviva tonight.

    Republic of Ireland 2-0 Qatar

Just a reminder that the Republic haven't won a game at home since beating New Zealand 3-1 in November 2019.

Callum Robinson scored his first international goal that evening.

Paddy McNair goes for the spectacular from the edge of the area but it bobbles as he goes to smash it towards goal.

The end result? A throw in on the far side.

It was a great move. Josh will be disappointed he didn't score but their keeper has had a good night. Conor Washington had reacted first and put it away. We deserve it and we have shown our attacking intent from the off.

  15. A timely boost as Bradley shinespublished at 20:34 British Summer Time 12 October 2021

    Bulgaria 0-1 Northern Ireland

    Mark Sterling

That's been a good half of international football away from home for Northern Ireland.

Conor Bradley has been full of confidence on the right hand side, starting high and getting up and down the flank superbly as he starts to let people see what all the fuss over him is about.

It looked like Northern Ireland were going to rue more chances not being taken, but Conor Washington was in the right spot to give them a half-time lead.

A win tonight would be huge for the players' morale, even if it is too late to have any real impact on their hopes of qualifying.

Conor Washington's goal has Northern Ireland ahead at the break.

It's out of their hands but Ian Baraclough's men are doing what they can to keep their slim World Cup hopes alive.

The good news is Northern Ireland are winning.

The bad news is Switzerland are now three up in Lithuania.

Renato Steffen added a second and Breel Embolo has just made it three before the break. Clinical.

    Bulgaria 0-1 Northern Ireland

Paddy McNair concedes a free-kick for being kicked by Dimitar Velkovski. Interesting.

Ian Baraclough, who has had his fill of poor refereeing decisions this week, isn't best pleased on the touchline.

The Middlesbrough midfielder was caught on the ankle and needs some treatment. Thankfully he's now back on his feet.
