That's it from Wales, where a trip to the World Cup looks a little bit closer tonight.

Robert Page's side still need to produce two mighty play-off performances if they are to claim one of the three spots in Qatar which will be up for grabs next March.

But finishing second in their qualifying group to Belgium - and claiming the point they needed from the final game against Roberto Martinez's side - is a hugely creditable effort.

And so to the draw, which comes a week on Friday, and the play-offs.

We will be there to take you through it all.

  2. World Cup 'definitely achievable' - Pagepublished at 22:21 Greenwich Mean Time 16 November 2021

Wales manager Robert Page told Sky Sports: "I couldn't be prouder. I was very emotional at the end. That group of men out there, to put that performance in after a big game on Saturday, it was outstanding. Right until the end, we were going for the win.

"With Belgium, the players they've got, their rotation, they are phenomenal. So at times, you've got to be brave against them and we tweaked a few things at half-time that worked for us.

"Our supporters were straight back up backing us after going 1-0 down. I'm not surprised at how positive our reaction was as a team as well, we've done it before, we know how to dig deep.

"We've got Kieffer Moore, Dan James, Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale when he's fit. There's goals in our team.

"But look at us defensively too. Ben Davies, brilliant, and Joe Rodon isn't getting a game in at club level but he puts on that Welsh jersey and turns up for us. And Neco Williams has just gone to another level these past few games.

"We're always going to miss Gareth Bale but there's so much he brings to this team off the pitch too, just having him around the dressing room. He wanted to be with us tonight, he's a proper captain.

"When the crowd is behind us like it was tonight, we'll take on anyone. We're not done yet, we're dreaming of a World Cup but it's definitely achievable."

Wales' goal-scorer Kieffer Moore on Sky Sports: "We left everything out there. We gave everything for that performance because we knew we needed a result.

"The noise after that goal, it was just incredible. I can't explain it, I was lost for words. It's some feeling, I'll say that. The Red Wall [Wales fans] are amazing.

"We knew that Belgium would try and keep as much possession as much as possible so we knew we had to be compact, be tight and not let them through us so that we could get them on the counter-attack.

"It's so important to get a home draw - look at the teams that have come in second, the likes of Portugal and Italy - it's been a bit nervy! But nights like this, I'd back us to take on anyone."

Other teams in the play-off draw now will have watched this match and realise that Wales isn't an easy place to come and win. And that is something that we have never experienced before. It's a great feeling to know that teams have got to be wary of us.

Wales captain Aaron Ramsey told Sky Sports: “It’s massive. Full credit to the boys, they put in a massive shift again against top opposition.

“We always believed we could get a result, especially with our fans behind us. It’s another good night for us.

“We build our foundations on everybody putting in a shift for each other, putting their bodies on the line, and we managed to do that again tonight.

“There’s some big, big teams still in it but it was so important that we had a home tie. You could see the atmosphere tonight – it’s a special place to come and play. Hopefully that will give us an extra edge in that first play-off.”

The last six or seven years has been so successful for Wales. Winning is a mentality and that was what we had to change, and they have done.

We've had great squads in the past but didn't have the winning mentality. But look at this team, look at what they've done since Gary Speed, since Chris Coleman.

They fear nobody. They just get stronger and stronger. Without Gareth Bale, our best player, and Ramsey not at his best at all, that says so much. You'll never replace those two but our XI without them is a proper team.

We've got to the stage now where we are finding ways to get out of a game. We used to say you've got to turn the losses into draws and draws into wins, and we are actually doing that now.

Teams are getting prepared for us now and you can see that.

It was worth being here just for the anthem at the start of the game! Wales started perfectly, they set the tone with the way they pressed and bear in mind this is against the best team in the world.

We showed we can compete with teams like that. They were just superb, especially in the second half by playing three at the back. We didn't get caught out too often.

Neco Williams was fantastic. He will learn so much from these games.

You've got to consider as well that our two talismen, Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey, were barely there. Well, Ramsey was there but he didn't have his best game.

A huge pat on the back to the rest of the lads. They are maturing into a proper international team and those youngsters, wow, they are promising.

Wales' players are embracing on the pitch.

They are still two games away from a first World Cup appearance since 1958.

But they have done as well as anyone might have hoped they would in a qualifying group containing Belgium.

They have given themselves a chance.
