  1. 'City so quick to win the ball back'published at 19:50 Greenwich Mean Time 2 March 2021

Man City v Wolves (20:00 GMT)

    Paul Dickov
Former Leicester City striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Manchester City have that winning mentality but what is most impressive is how well they do without the ball and how they press teams - they don't give them a minute.

I think since the start of this run, Pep Guardiola has changed things a little bit because it seems to me that when they lose the ball, the nearest man on the pitch will go and press the ball. It's as if Pep has said to them 'we need to get this ball back again as quickly as we can' and the nearest man goes.

Then you watch three, four or even five players surrounding him to win the ball back. It makes it so difficult. The amount of times they win the ball back very, very quickly is why it's making it so difficult for teams to play against them.

  3. 'I don't see a repeat result for Wolves'published at 19:45 Greenwich Mean Time 2 March 2021

Wolves have definitely improved in the past few weeks. They couldn't quite nick a win at Newcastle at the weekend, but they are still unbeaten in their past five Premier League games.

Manchester City are obviously on a much longer run without defeat. They had to work hard for their 2-1 win over West Ham on Saturday, but they stuck to their task.

This game won't be easy either, because Wolves are very well organised, but I don't see Nuno Espirito Santo's side managing a repeat of their win at Etihad Stadium last season.

    Lawro's prediction: 2-0

  4. Semedo's special task?published at 19:42 Greenwich Mean Time 2 March 2021

    Man City v Wolves (20:00GMT)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

From the Wolves team selection, it looks like Nelson Semedo will try to look after Joao Cancelo.

Cancelo operates in that full-back, midfield pivot position.

Semedo plays at a wing-back or full-back on the same side and has masses of experience from his time at Barcelona. That will be an interesting battle.

Wolves won here last season, so don't write them off.

Regi Wilson: Is there any other team in world football who can make SIX changes to their starting XI and still know they'll win comfortably? Guardiola has the easiest job in football in my opinion, never been challenged as a manager.

Andy Freeman: Pretty sure this Man City bench would be a top 6 team even with only 9 in the squad.. come on you Wolves (we are right up in the form table now... but still).

  6. Neto to the rescue?published at 19:38 Greenwich Mean Time 2 March 2021

West Ham's goal against Manchester City on Saturday was the first scored by an opposition player at the Etihad since 8 November.

Wolves are beginning to find a way without talisman Raul Jimenez, who continues his recovery from a fractured skull, but can they find a way past City this evening?

With five league goals each, Pedro Neto and Ruben Neves are the only Wolves players to score more than Jimenez, despite his absence since November, with Neto in particular looking sharp.

Adama Traore - who scored twice in this fixture last season - is one player who could really do with a goal, which would be his first in the league in 2020-21.

  7. Eric Garcia heading for Barcapublished at 19:36 Greenwich Mean Time 2 March 2021

    Man City v Wolves (20:00GMT)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport at the Etihad Stadium

Eric Garcia is back on the bench for Manchester City tonight.

Garcia has not featured for City in the Premier League since the 5-0 hammering of Burnley here on 28 November.

Pep Guardiola has said leaving Garcia out of his side 'breaks his heart'.

He also said Garcia will be joining Barcelona when he contract expires at the end of the season.

  8. Dias deliveringpublished at 19:34 Greenwich Mean Time 2 March 2021

Man City v Wolves (20:00 GMT)

    Ruben DiasImage source, Getty Images

Perhaps in a parallel world somewhere, Manchester City never signed Ruben Dias in September, are in crisis and sit well adrift of leaders Manchester United.

But they did, and City have since conceded just 10 goals in his 23 Premier League appearances.

City have won 13 of the 14 Premier League games in which Dias and John Stones have both started, conceding just three goals in the process, but Aymeric Laporte's inclusion tonight isn't exactly a downgrade.

Simon Atkins: Forget about fantasy football for a moment (I know, I know!). Stones and Dias have been incredible together, why switch? I don't get it at all.

I may be rock bottom of my fantasy league, but still feel I've demonstrated superior footballing knowledge by putting De Bruyne as my triple captain over Gundogan and Sterling. An assist and goal-free masterclass undoubtedly awaits...

  10. 'Guardiola has wonderful options on the bench'published at 19:27 Greenwich Mean Time 2 March 2021

Man City v Wolves (20:00 GMT)

    Rob Green
Former England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Pep Guardiola has got wonderful options on the bench and he's got players like Kevin de Bruyne - who wasn't at his best at the weekend - but he managed to get an amazing assist.

And of course, Sergio Aguero to come in, to still find his way into this team and this new style of play. Pep has certainly got his options and he's found his way of creating this fantastic winning run that they are on.

Guardiola is always on the edge of thinking of different things but at the moment, he's just on the edge of trying to keep this ball rolling and keeping everyone fresh.

  11. Arsenal's run under threatpublished at 19:24 Greenwich Mean Time 2 March 2021

Man City v Wolves (20:00 GMT)

Another record City can equal this evening is Arsenal's Premier League run of 19 games without trailing at any point.

The Gunners set that record between December 1998 and May 1999.

City go in search of that record against a Wolves side that have won 20 of their 34 points from losing positions this term...

  12. 99.9% chance the title's donepublished at 19:22 Greenwich Mean Time 2 March 2021

Man City v Wolves (20:00 GMT)

    It's over, folks.

According to Stats Perform, with 12 games to go, there is a 0.1% chance that Manchester City don't go on to win the Premier League title this season.

They're also predicted to reach 90 points and finish around 19 points clear of Manchester United in second.

All after winning five of their first 12 games of the season.

  13. Bayern, Ajax and TNS in City's sightspublished at 19:19 Greenwich Mean Time 2 March 2021

    Man City v Wolves (20:00GMT)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport at the Etihad Stadium

With 20 successive wins in all competitions, Manchester City are three away from Bayern Munich which is a modern-day record in the 'big five' leagues.

There was no such thing as 'the big five' when Johan Cruyff was excelling for Ajax in 1972 - when they won the European Cup - so I would say their 26 wins in a row that year is the best in a bigger league.

Welsh side The New Saints have the actual record though, with 27 wins on the spin.

  14. Impressive numberspublished at 19:16 Greenwich Mean Time 2 March 2021

Man City v Wolves (20:00 GMT)

Manchester City extended their winning run to 20 games in all competitons with victory over West Ham United on Saturday.

In the Premier League, their winning streak stands at 14 matches.

No other side has won more than four in a row in the Premier League this season, by the way.

Tonight, City can match their own club-record run of 28 games unbeaten in all competitions.

  17. Anyone for a quadruple?published at 19:10 Greenwich Mean Time 2 March 2021

Man City v Wolves (20:00 GMT)

Yep, after a year in the wilderness, talk of Manchester City landing a quadruple haul of trophies has returned.

They could be 15 points clear in the Premier League tonight, they play Tottenham in the EFL Cup final at Wembley on 25 April, face Everton in the FA Cup quarter-final on 20 March and hold a two-goal lead from the away leg of their Champions League last-16 tie with Borussia Monchengladbach.

So, who genuinely believes they can do it this time around?

I could hear the collective gasps of fantasy football managers everywhere as news of Ilkay Gundogan's benching was revealed.

Once again, it's a ridiculously strong bench for Manchester City, which also includes John Stones, Sergio Aguero, Phil Foden and Fernandinho.

If anyone can end Manchester City's incredible run, perhaps it is Nuno Espirito Santo's side.

Wolves have won seven points against Pep Guardiola's men since returning to the Premier League in 2018-19, which is the joint-best record of any team against City during that period.

Their 2-0 victory at the Etihad last season means they have the chance to win back-to-back top-flight away games against City for the first time since 1960.

  20. Team news - Six changes for Citypublished at 19:00 Greenwich Mean Time 2 March 2021

Man City v Wolves (20:00 GMT)

Manchester City make six changes from the side that beat West Ham 2-1 in their previous outing.

Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus, Aymeric Laporte, Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Joao Cancelo are the players to come in.

Man City XI: Ederson, Walker, Dias, Laporte, Joao Cancelo, De Bruyne, Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Mahrez, Gabriel Jesus, Sterling.

Subs: Stones, Gundogan, Aguero, Zinchenko, Steffen, Torres, Fernandinho, Foden, Garcia.

There's just one change for Wolves as Ki-Jana Hoever replaces Willian Jose.

Wolves XI: Rui Patricio, Dendoncker, Coady, Saiss, Hoever, Neves, Joao Moutinho, Jonny, Nelson Semedo, Pedro Neto, Traore.

Subs: Ait Nouri, Willian Jose, Boly, Silva, Gibbs-White, Vitinha, Ruddy, Kilman, Otasowie.
