Liverpool's high line got away with the Timo Werner offside but they are continuing to play with it and Chelsea do look capable of getting behind on the break. They attack quick quickly before Hakim Ziyech hits a shot from inside the area into a Liverpool player.

Liverpool are dominating possession but Chelsea have had the better chances so far.

The let-off from the Timo Werner 'goal' seems to have stirred Liverpool as they go on the hunt again but this time Curtis Jones wastes a promising attack as he bends a shot wide of the far post.

From thinking they were behind to thinking they should be ahead for Liverpool in a matter of minutes but Sadio Mane mis-hits his volley from Mo Salah's great ball into the box. What a chance.

Chelsea have started in very positive mood with Timo Werner a real threat - although he has had two big disappointments with a chance he should have taken then the disallowed goal.

Thomas Tuchel's team can be very satisfied with the opening 25 minutes but they must hope to make this dominance pay at some point.

You can not leave Timo Werner with this space in behind, Liverpool high line, one ball that's all it took. Allison was really hesitant, Werner just gets there before him. I think he looks onside, but it's so tight.

Chelsea are bossing things at the moment and the last few minutes will have been a frustrating watch for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp. They are struggling to get a hold of the ball.

Chelsea come forward again as Timo Werner, who has drifted out wide, gets into the box on the left. He crosses but there's no blue shirts in the middle of the area.

Timo Werner has to do better as he gets onto the end of a César Azpilicueta ball into the box but stabs a tame effort at Alisson from all of eight yards. The bounce, in fairness, was awkward, but that was a big opportunity.

Moments later, Azpilicueta launches a shot from distance over the bar. Good spell for Chelsea.

Reece James controls a high ball down the right flank as Chelsea come forward. He cuts it back to the edge of the box but can only find a Liverpool player.

No shots on target yet from either side but there's been a good tempo to this game so far. Both sides up for it and not playing it safe.

Oooh, not far off for Chelsea as Ben Chilwell plays a great ball from the halfway point to Timo Werner on the edge of the box. The striker controls well and then bends an effort just over.

Liverpool have settled now after Chelsea's bright start. Andy Robertson exchanges passes with Mo Salah but Robertson then pulls his shot wide from 20 yards. Should have at least got in on target really.
