So, half-time in this evening's Championship action, but they're midway through the second half in the evening's League Two fixture.

Still goalless though between Walsall and Barrow with just over 20 minutes to play.

    That's the break.

Ivan Toney's early penalty the difference between these sides so far.

As it stands, that'll be enough to take Brentford back to second on goal difference.

Heading in to a minute added on at the end of this first half.

Meanwhile the returning Christian Norgaard really pulling the strings in midfield for Brentford with a lovely range of short and long passes.

Pace has picked up a touch in this one as we approach half-time.

A bit more urgency from Blackburn but they do leave themselves at risk of being hit on the counter by Brentford.

    Blackburn Rovers 0-1 Brentford

Vitaly Janelt with a glorious chance for Brentford after getting on the end of Ivan Toney's flick-on.

Janelt misses the target as he shoots with his left foot from just outside the box. Screwed it just a tad too much on his instep.

Sam Gallagher has half a sniff of the ball dropping for him to take a shot for Blackburn on the edge of the area.

Winston Reid got caught out by the long floating diagonal but Henrik Dalsgaard got across on the cover to slide ahead of Gallagher before he could get his right foot around the ball.

    Blackburn Rovers 0-1 Brentford

Mathias Jensen's attempts to execute the training-ground free-kick moves back fire once more as he wastes another decent set piece opportunity for the visitors.

Again, why not have a crack on target?

Trying to be a bit too cute are Brentford in those areas.

    Blackburn Rovers 0-1 Brentford

Big cruching 50/50 challenge just outside Brentford's penalty box between Winston Reid and John Buckley.

Both were trying to play the ball but Reid ends up coming off a bit worse to begin with.

Thankfully he's OK to continue and it's just a free-kick to the visitors.

    Blackburn Rovers 0-1 Brentford

    Almost a second Brentford goal.

Long throw from the left into the Blackburn area is headed clear but only as far as Mathias Jensen running on to it at pace.

He lets fly on his right foot from just outside the penalty area and that one goes just a couple of yards wide of Thomas Kaminski's right post.

    Half an hour gone.

Not been a classic so far, but for Brentford, it's doing the job as things stand.

Chances still relatively few and far between.

    Blackburn Rovers 0-1 Brentford

Sweeper-keeper Thomas Kaminski shows some clear decision-making for Blackburn by coming well out of his penalty area to clear a long ball into his half from opposite number David Raya.

We'll keep an eye on that, could evolve into a key tactic from the visitors as this one unfolds.

    Blackburn Rovers 0-1 Brentford

Blackburn full-back Barry Douglas far from pleased with having a free-kick awrded against him for supposedly fouling Brentford skipper Henrik Dalsgaard.

Rovers tried to get something going there with a diagonal ball out to the left wing with Douglas bombing forward, but not to be on this occasion.

Gone a bit quiet all of a sudden after Brentford's opener.

Ryan Nyambe is doing his best to try to engineer things for Blackburn down their right. But Brentford look comfortable at the moment in their shape off the ball.

    Blackburn Rovers 0-1 Brentford

Brentford attempt an intricate free-kick routine through Mathias Jensen but it fails to work on this occasion as his dink into the Blackburn area catches three team-mates offside.

Probably should have just tried to smash it on target from where he was.

    Blackburn Rovers 0-1 Brentford

Blackburn looking to mount a response and Tyrhys Dolan again trying to drive them forward.

Wins his side a corner. It almost picks out the head of Ben Brereton at the back post and again there's a tangle of bodies, but no penalty awarded this time.

Not the way Darragh Lenihan would've wanted to mark his 200th appearance for Blackburn this evening.

In real time, it looked a bit of a soft decision to award Brentford that penalty, but replays showed there was some noticeable contact between centre-back and forward.

League goal number 26 of the season for Ivan Toney as he sends Blackburn keeper Thomas Kaminski the wrong way from 12 yards.

Cool as you like and Brentford have the start they were looking for.

  18. PENALTY TO BRENTFORDpublished at 9 mins

    Blackburn Rovers 0-0 Brentford

Tarique Fosu is tripped in the box by Blackburn skipper Darragh Lenihan and a penalty is given to the visitors.

    Blackburn Rovers 0-0 Brentford

Nothing as yet from either side in terms of a shooting opportunity.

A Brentford break fails to materialise as a through ball skips away from Bryan Mbeumo as Vitaly Janelt was just a bit too heavy with his touch.

    Blackburn Rovers 0-0 Brentford

Blackburn certainly not the tallest of sides.

But in Tyrhys Dolan and John Buckley, they've got a couple of exciting academy graduates who are seeing a fair bit of the ball in these early stages.
