The pitch may well play a part in this one as we go on, it's fair to say it's not the most even of surfaces in some places.

Our BBC local radio colleagues have got this evening's Championship action covered from both camps.

BBC Radio Lancashire and BBC Radio London are both following the action from Ewood Park and you can find out more details of where to hear their commentaries on the BBC Sounds page.

Sadly, EFL rights restrictions prevent us from being able to stream those programmes on the BBC Sport website and app, but if you're in the local transmission area, do turn your dials their way.

After a monumental 21-match unbeaten run, Brentford's charge to the Premier League has stalled of late.

Four defeats in the past six games included losing to leaders Norwich last time out.

But boss Thomas Frank believes having the past nine days free of any action has allowed them some crucial time on the training pitch and a chance to refocus on the last 12 games ahead.

It's been a tough period for Blackburn Rovers and Tony Mowbray lately with just the one win in their past nine league games.

There has been encouragement though in the past two matches with a 2-0 win at Millwall on Saturday and a 1-1 draw against promotion-chasing Swansea at home on Tuesday.

Bradley Dack's opening goal was cancelled out by yet another Andre Ayew penalty but Rovers had more than enough chances to secure all three points on a frustrating night.

Brentford have the chance to return to second place this evening with a win at Ewood Park.

The Bees had to sit out the action last weekend after their home fixture against Rotherham was postponed due to a Covid-19 outbreak at the Millers.

Thomas Frank's side were also beaten in their last Championship outing by leaders Norwich so the incentives to bounce back are plentiful.

Blackburn make just the one change from Tuesday's draw against Swansea City.

Full-back Ryan Nyambe comes in for Joe Rankin-Costello. Liverpool loanee Harvey Elliott is on the bench.

Brentford recall Christian Norgaard for his first start since October and Tarique Fosu in place of Saman Ghoddos and Sergi Canos in two changes to their starting line-up from the defeat by Norwich City.

Ivan Toney leads the line looking to add to his tally of 25 league goals so far this campaign.

Blackburn XI: Kaminski; Nyambe, Lenihan (capt), Harwood-Bellis, Douglas, Tryball, Buckley, Dack, Gallagher, Brereton, Dolan.

Subs: Pears, Branthwaite, Bell, Bennett, Evans, Travis, Rothwell, Johnson, Elliott.

Brentford XI: Raya; Dalsgaard (capt), Reid, Pinnock, Sorensen, Norgaard, Janelt, Jensen, Mbeumo, Fosu, Toney.

Subs: Daniels, Canos, Emiliano, Forss, Ghoddos, Roerslev, Zamburek, Stevens, Bidstrup.

    And indeed we do....

The seemingly non-stop nature of the football season rolls on once again as we kick-off another weekend of action in the English Football League.

We begin proceedings this Friday evening at Ewood Park where Blackburn are going to try to derail another automatic promotion contender's charge to the top two in the space of four days.

Brentford, meanwhile, know they need to get back on track and put themselves well and truly back in the mix for the top two.

Kick-off is in around 15 minutes.
