“This has been a season like no other and Rangers deserve real praise for performing at such a consistently high level for so long. They are undoubtedly deserving champions.

Well deserved. To wrap it up so early with such a points gap is a credit to the players and staff. The level of consistency has been incredible. Great credit to Steven Gerrard for the team he's built and the players for taking it on. To finally get the title back to Ibrox is a massive relief and a massive joy for everyone at the club

  8. How have Rangers' signings performed?published at 16:11 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2021

Leon Balogun and Kemar Roofe are the summer signings that have had the biggest impact on Rangers' season.

Balogun and Filip Helander have alternated alongside Connor Goldson in central defence and the former has also filled in at right-back in recent weeks. Striker Roofe, currently injured, has weighed in with 12 goals.

Goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin, defender Calvin Bassey, midfielder Bongani Zungu and striker Cedric Itten have had limited opportunities to make their mark, but the latter did net some important goals.

Fast forward to the winter window and Rangers brought in Jack Simpson and Scott Wright and both are yet to make a start in Steven Gerrard's first team.

  9. Fans flood into Govan and city centrepublished at 16:08 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2021

It's beginning to liven up over at Ibrox - and in George Square in Glasgow's city centre.

Rangers fans who haven't heeded justice minister Humza Yousaf's "stay at home" plea, have been pouring in from all parts of the country.

It mirrors yesterday's scene at the club's stadium that were criticised by the Scottish government and Police Scotland - and fireworks can be heard overheard around the city.

Former Rangers player Lee McCulloch tells BBC Radio 5Live "it's been a little bit emotional".

"Ten years is a long time to wait," he says. "Every Rangers fan all around the world will be celebrating this tonight.

"The club hit rock bottom. It's been a slow climb back up, but today is all about Steven Gerrard and his squad.

"The changes Steven has made, the leadership he's shown, the recruitment, on and off the pitch, the club has been fantastic.

"I see re-sale value in the squad, which hasn't been the case for a long time. The financial troubles are well away.

"The board deserve a lot of credit for that for putting money where their mouth is. It's looking very enticing for the next couple of years.

"The fans and board will be desperate for Gerrard to stay and go for another league title"

  18. We could have won it - Mellonpublished at 15:26 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2021

    FT: Dundee United 0-0 Celtic

Dundee United manager Micky Mellon thought his side could have beaten Celtic despite the visitors dominating possession and chances - and is disappointed to fall short in his side's quest to finish in the top six.

"Genuinley disappointed that we haven't won that game," he says. "My players gave everything and it's a shame we couldn't get that goal to push us into the top six.

"If we had shown that little bit of quality, we could have won it, but it's a big step forward for us - Celtic know they've been good in a game.

"I don't celebrate getting chances - you have to be good enough to take them. Yes, Celtic had chances, but we were good enough to stop them."

It's much quieter around Ibrox that it was yesterday, when thousands turned up before, during and after the win over St Mirren that set up today's title win.

However, those who have made their way to Rangers' stadium have been enjoying themselves.

  20. United set to miss out on top sixpublished at 15:19 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2021

    FT: Dundee United 0-0 Celtic

Before we forget Dundee United in all this. Despite their draw against Celtic, it leaves them all but out of the race for a top-six finish.

With one game remaining before the split, they are three points behind St Mirren and would have to hope that the Paisley side lose heavily to Hamilton Academical while they themselves hammer Aberdeen on 20 March.
