Giovani Lo Celso is going in the book for stopping a quick Villa free-kick.

  3. Postpublished at 61 mins

    Aston Villa 0-1 Tottenham

Well, it took Villa 58 minutes to have a shot in this game but they are now starting to look the more dangerous of the sides and Anwar El Ghazi finds the side-netting with an audacious effort from distance.

  4. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 60 mins

    Aston Villa 0-1 Tottenham

Change for Villa, as Anwar El Ghazi replaces Bertrand Traore.

  5. Postpublished at 59 mins

    Aston Villa 0-1 Tottenham

Tidy footwork from Trezeguet, flicking it through his legs to release Morgan Sanson down the left.

Tottenham only half clear and Sanson picks out Trezeguet in the middle, but his effort is cleared by Joe Rodon.

John McGinn then fancies a dig himself from distance and Hugo Lloris saves.

    Much better from Villa.

  6. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 56 mins

    Aston Villa 0-1 Tottenham

Sergio Reguilon has picked up a knock and will have to go off. Ben Davies comes on to replace the Tottenham left-back.

    Mark Lawrenson
BBC football expert on BBC Radio 5 Live

Aston Villa haven't changed things tactically at all which is slightly puzzling. Unless they decided let's stay as we are for 20 minutes, keep it at 1-0 and then for the last 25 minutes or so have a good go at it.

  8. Postpublished at 55 mins

    Aston Villa 0-1 Tottenham

Morgan Sanson clips it to the back post instead and Tottenham clear.

Hugo Lloris hasn't had to make a save yet.

  9. Postpublished at 53 mins

    Aston Villa 0-1 Tottenham

Players down all over the place at the moment. Both Japhet Tanganga and Sergio Reguilon, think both will be OK.

After all that, it's a chance for Villa to finally have a shot on goal with a free-kick 35 yards out...

  10. Postpublished at 52 mins

    Aston Villa 0-1 Tottenham

That's wonderful from Harry Kane, just tip-toeing his way past several Villa players in his own half to get Spurs on the break. Lucas Moura shows great feet too, probably should have a shot but looks for Kane instead and it comes to nothing.

  11. Postpublished at 51 mins

    Aston Villa 0-1 Tottenham

Good ball from Matt Targett and and Hugo Lloris can only help it on with his finger tips. Bertrand Traore hoists it to the back post but Ollie Watkins pushes Japhet Tanganga and Spurs get the free-kick.

  12. CLOSE!published at 48 mins

    Aston Villa 0-1 Tottenham

Harry Kane has so much space on the edge of the area as Aston Villa back right off.

The Spurs forward turns and looks to pick his spot in the bottom corner, but it just flicks off Tyrone Mings and behind for a corner. Wasn't far wide.

  13. Postpublished at 47 mins

    Aston Villa 0-1 Tottenham

Morgan Sanson finds space on the left and looks up, but can only hook a cross into the welcoming arms of Hugo Lloris.

  14. KICK-OFFpublished at 45 mins

    Aston Villa 0-1 Tottenham

    We're back under way.

No Barkley just yet, but he was going through a vigorous warm-up.

Jon Evans: At the end of the day, Trezeguet, Traore and El Ghazi aren't good enough which means without Jack Villa have no creativity or outlets. Watkins is having to do too much other than get in scoring positions.

Earlier in the season I thought Kane was the most indispensable player for any team in the PL, but now I think it's Grealish.

We are over reliant on Kane and Son but Spurs pretty much have the same core team now as Poch had. They were burnt out and at the end of his tenure nowhere near the mileage or high press he was known for. Good thing for Spurs is with a billion pound stadium we need CL football so I think Levy has to back someone in the market soon.

In fact, Carlos Vinicius' goal is the only shot on target either side have had so far in this game.

Aston Villa failed to have a single shot in the opening 45 minutes, the first time they failed to register an attempt in the first half of any home league game since April 2014 against Southampton.
