The Rangers midfielder was incensed by something whispered in his ear by the centre-half.

That's Rangers' first home defeat in a year, only their second of the season and midfielder Steven Davis tells BT Sport: "We’ve not had the feeling much this season, so we’re disappointed.

"I didn’t think there was much between the teams, but we probably didn’t test their goalkeeper enough.

"The first goal we’re disappointed with, but the second was a bit of class. If we’d performed as well as we could over both legs, we would probably have gone through."

Substitute striker Kemar Roofe was sent off for a dangerous challenge on Ondřej Kolář that forced the goalkeeper off on a stretcher with Rangers only one behind.

"There was no malice in Kemar’s challenge," Davis adds. "He obviously went for the ball. We felt we had nothing to lose after that, but the second sending off makes it very difficult."
