    FT: Man Utd 2-1 Brighton

More from Graham Potter: "First half i thought we carried more of a goal threat and were probably the better team overall. Second half we got driven back a little bit more than we would like but didn't feel we were under so much threat in terms of goal chances.

"There were a lot of positives. We're sore because we haven't got anything from the game but the way we handled the opposition, there's a lot of good things. We've got eight huge games left but we're in a good place in terms of performances, so we've got to carry that forward. We have to keep working.

"Until you get the points you can never be sure of anything. It's going to be a fight until the end and you have to make sure you're there. I believe in the players and what we're doing and our performances have been consistently good. It's turning them into results that's the challenge. We'll give everything."

Khan Karn: Give me a break about this grinding out result ability of Man U, Brighton should have gotten a penalty, won the game and were the better side. They got lucky. Ref made a mistake.

Did I miss something here? United had more chances, more attempts on target, more possession, and they were fortunate? Why? Because of a pen claim which was 50/50? Yes, they didn't play their best, but good sides find a way to win regardless.

Manchester United have won eight Premier League matches after trailing this season.

Only Newcastle United (10 in 2001/02) and Manchester United themselves (9 in 2012/13) have ever won as many games from a losing position in a single Premier League campaign.

  5. 'Maybe the fireworks have to be lit at half-time'published at 21:50 British Summer Time 4 April 2021

    FT: Man Utd 2-1 Brighton

    Manchester United

More from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: "I thought we started well but when they scored, after that we couldn't find our rhythm again and we needed half-time to compose ourselves and go again. Second half we played some good stuff. More runs in behind, more movement, better movement.

"Sometimes after international breaks it takes time - and then maybe the fireworks have to be lit at half-time.

"Mason Greenwood needs to add those goals to his tally because we know how wonderful a talent he is, and when he can add those goals we know he'll be a good'un.

"They defended very well. Five at the back is always hard to break down but we managed it in the end. It's great to see Danny Welbeck back playing at his best. He could have had a fantastic career here at Manchester Unitedd. I'm happy it's worked out for him."

On Marcus Rashford's possible injury: "You just hope he can recover from it. He had to come off, but he's a tough one."

  6. 'We carried the most threat in the first half'published at 21:47 British Summer Time 4 April 2021

    FT: Man Utd 2-1 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Graham Potter to BBC: "We contributed well in the game. We took the lead and were probably the team which carried the most threat in the first half. We just missed that final pass. Man Utd responded in the second half without creating too many chances. They scored from not too much. Maybe a penalty which Danny Welbeck didn't get.

"When it was live I thought it was a penalty then I suppose it's the clear and obvious debate. If Mike Dean had given it I don't think VAR would have overuled it. There's nothing we can do in the end. We're disappointed to come away with nothing.

"I'm confident in terms of the team, the way we're playing and the personality in the team but until you get the points you can never relax. Sometimes the opposition have some quality that you have to hold your hands up to and say 'that's good.' We'll keep going."

  7. 'Greenwood was mature'published at 21:43 British Summer Time 4 April 2021

    FT: Man Utd 2-1 Brighton

    Manchester United

Manchester United's Ole Gunnar Solksjaer to BBC: "It's always difficult to play Brighton. We have had good results and we've had to earn them the hard way. We managed to find a way in the second half.

"Danny [Welbeck] was in the reserves when I was the coach. He is a big talent. It's great to see him back playing football with all the injuries he has had. We gave it away sloppily [for his goal]. Dean [Henderson] makes a good save first but then the rebound comes in. We had to come in at half time and compose ourselves as we didn't create much after they scored."

On Marcus Rashford's equaliser: "It was a long ball which went up, we won it and it was great by Bruno [Fernandes] to carry the ball. He's hacked down as well! The finish was excellent - calm and composed. Marcus has been working on that a lot.

"Mason [Greenwood] was mature. Today he was one of our brightest players. He was clean, he was tidy and he got the goal. It's a header inside the six-yard box and that's what we need more from Mason.

"I've got two great keepers, two numbers 1s. David de Gea spent a while back home and then he had internationals so he hadn't played for about a month. He'll definitely play football for us again."

  8. 'It's a bit cut-throat'published at 21:41 British Summer Time 4 April 2021

    FT: Man Utd 2-1 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton's goalscorer Danny Welbeck: "Obviously very disappointed not to get the three points. Second half wasn't too great with the ball and we didn't really create many chances. We needed to see the game out. Some things went against us. It's a bit cut-throat today, so it's difficult to take.

"We played it well in the first half. In the second half it didn't really come to fruition. We knew they'd come with something different.

"It's a club that I've got a lot of affection for, that gave me my chance, but once you get on the pitch it's 11 v 11, we want to get the points. You've just got to be professional and do your job."

Its nothing to do with 'turning it around' . It's about being the best over 90 minutes. The object of the game is scoring more goals than the other team in 90 minutes. United fans need to stop moaning and count their blessings that United have improved and are getting stronger.

    FT: Man Utd 2-1 Brighton

    Manchester United

More from Mason Greenwood to BBC: "Credit to Brighton. They scored the first goal, defended well and held us off. We had to break them down and we did that eventually.

"We weren't worried. We knew we had the quality on the pitch. Everyone kept their heads. There's a lot to play for.

"I remember [Danny Welbeck] as a United player. He scored a lot of goals for United and he's still doing the same to this day so credit to him."

Phil: United made hard work of it but fair play to a determined Brighton side that worked their socks off. A draw probably a fairer result but delighted with the 3 points.

  12. 'It was a hard night'published at 21:31 British Summer Time 4 April 2021

    FT: Man Utd 2-1 Brighton

    Manchester United

Manchester United's matchwinner Mason Greenwood: "It was a hard night. When they scored the first goal we knew we had to react and put in a better performance. Everyone was excellent in the second half.

"I don't think we started very well but we knew we had to switch on and be focused. We should have started that from the moment we came out, but it's a good three points. There was a lot of men behind the ball and we had to have that creative spark.

"It's a confidence booster, I've not scored as many in the Premier League. I scored a header tonight which is something I've been working on a lot behind the scenes."

Everybody's going to be looking at [the penalty claim]. The stills, the videos. How much contact was there from Harry Maguire? Ultimately Manchester United have managed to find a way to win. They've got that 'knack', got that steel. Yes, it could have been a better first half but they've ultimately won the game.

Ryan Howard: You've got to give Man United credit for finding a way back into games after conceding first, but their fans would probably appreciate less stress.

RE Harry (21:16) It's true United haven't been at their best, but to say they've been outplayed the entire game is rather stretching it, don't you think?
