This is not where David de Gea wants to be spending this evening.

De Gea is Manchester United's highest-earning player and he is now playing understudy to Dean Henderson.

It will be fascinating to see how that situation unfolds heading towards the summer.

Quick start from Manchester United. It's flicked through to Marcus Rashford but he can't bring it under control.

Rashford then links up with Luke Shaw on the left but they can't squeeze a cross in.

  10. 'We used the time well'published at 19:18 British Summer Time 4 April 2021

Man Utd v Brighton (19:30 BST)

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Graham Potter on BT Sport: "We have to start again. We used the time well. The international break affects everybody. Nothing to complain about we just have to get back into it.

"We have belief in terms of our performances but our results weren't what we wanted them to be. Since the turn of the year, our results have been quite good. But it doesn't count for anything today. We have to start again today against a top team. We're looking forward to it."

On his defence: "We're a bit short in that area. Hopefully they will be back for the next game but the players have adapted and they will face another test today against the attacking players the United squad have got."

  11. 'Brighton on a high'published at 19:14 British Summer Time 4 April 2021

Man Utd v Brighton (19:30 BST)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

Brighton have won their past two games, and they are suddenly scoring for fun. They are now six points above the bottom three, which is a lot at this stage of the season, and with a much better goal difference than the teams below them too.

So, the Seagulls head to Old Trafford on a high, and they are probably still wondering how they lost 3-2 to United at the start of the season - the winning goal, a Bruno Fernandes penalty, was scored after the full-time whistle, at the end of an absolutely crazy game that Brighton should have won.

Things might be pretty tight this time too, but I am going for another United win.

    Prediction: 2-1

  12. 'There's no time to cry'published at 19:11 British Summer Time 4 April 2021

    FT: Aston Villa 3-1 Fulham

    Fulham

Fulham goalscorer Aleksandar Mitrovic: "[We're] very sad and disappointed and angry at ourselves. We had a good 60 minutes, we played tough football, we scored a goal and normally this season when we go 1-0 up, especially away ganes, we defend really well but today some mistakes and two goals in three or four minutes -that's not us.

"There is no time to cry a lot, still seven games to play. We have to recover, dust ourselves down and keep working, keep going, keep believeing. We are just three points from the place where we want to be and I think we've shown that against every team we can play good football, we can win. There's a lot to look forward to and be positive. It was not a great result tonight but there's still a lot of points to play for.

"When you are a striker you always want to be on the scoresheet. I tried to stay positive, to go day by day, work really hard and believe in myself and my qualities. It was a bad time but I'm always looking forward, everything that is already done stays behind me."

Man Utd v Brighton (19:30 BST)

Manchester United have won five successive meetings, scoring three goals in each of the last four.

Brighton have never won at Old Trafford in 12 visits (D2, L10).

Bruno Fernandes has been involved in four of United's six goals against Brighton in his two league matches against them, scoring three and setting up one.

Danny Welbeck could become the first former Manchester United player to score three Premier League goals against them after leaving the club. His previous two came while playing for Arsenal.

  14. 'I have two numbers 1s'published at 19:07 British Summer Time 4 April 2021

Man Utd v Brighton (19:30 BST)

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to BT Sport: "[Anthony Martial has sprained his knee with France. It looks like he'll be out for a few weeks, definitely. We hope to get him back before the end of the season but we're not sure.

"It's good timing. [Edinson Cavani] has been working hard to get his fitness and luckily we have him back so that's a positive.

"When there are international breaks you never know. Some of them used it to stay here and it worked out. A couple have played through the pain and some we have lost. I'm happy we have enough to fill the bench."

On Dean Henderson starting in goal: "That I have two very, very good goalkeepers. Two numbers ones and that's it."

  15. 'We've got a fighting chance'published at 19:04 British Summer Time 4 April 2021

    FT: Aston Villa 3-1 Fulham

    Fulham

More from Fulham boss Scott Parker on the relegation battle: "We've got a fighting chance. We need to improve and understand where we went wrong, and be brutally honest that that wasn't good enough. There's seven games left, we've put ourselves in a great position.

"We need to understand and smell what we're in, where we are. The last 15 minutes we didn't deserve anything out of the game."

On Aleksandar Mitrovic: "From the outset this year, we've struggled at the top end of the pitch and Mitro has come in today after scoring five goals in the week and we all know what goals do for a striker. Hopefully he can get a few more for us."

  16. Solskjaer's farewell to Nicky Buttpublished at 19:02 British Summer Time 4 April 2021

Man Utd v Brighton (19:30 BST)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

This is Manchester United's first home game since the exit of Nicky Butt as the club's head of player development.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has paid a lovely tribute to his former team-mate in the club's programme tonight.

"Nicky was the first person I met on my first day at Man Utd, in which he showed me to dressing room at The Cliff," he said.

"I deem him a good friend, with whom I have enjoyed a strong relationship as a player and a coach. He will be missed and is always welcome back to his boyhood club."

    Aston Villa 3-1 Fulham

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa goalImage source, PA Media

Aston Villa manager Dean Smith to BBC Sport: "It was a laboured game in general from both sides, we're at that stage of the season. You want your subs to come on and make an impact and they did that.

"Trezeguet was key, he came on and made the difference. He took his opportunity, all three who came on did. It's a mistake from Tyrone Mings that doesn't happen often, he's very pleased we turned it around. There weren't many chances in the game.

"After the restart last year we had 10 games left and Trezeguet came up big for us. He should have had three or four goals already this season so he'll be pleased with his impact today.

"Our season has been up and down, but we can produce moments of brilliance to win games. We've needed to win without Jack Grealish, people say we can't play without him but we've got goals in the team."

  19. 'Need to see the game out'published at 18:57 British Summer Time 4 April 2021

    FT: Aston Villa 3-1 Fulham

    Fulham

Fulham manager Scott Parker: "Disappointing. You go 1-0 up in this game and you feel it's probably going to be enough. Both teams looked a little bit laboured, we got our noses in front from a mistake and that probably sums it up. I'm very, very disappointed in the way we saw out the last 15 minutes.

"The second and third it was a bit of naivety on our behalf. It's not good enough if I'm perfectly honest. In certain moments you need to see out the game better than we did. We were very solid, nullified them to very few chances but the ebbs and flows, the emotional side of the game, I think we didn't handle that very well today.

"At 1-1 we didn't handle the disappointment, you need to regroup and press the reset button and we didn't do that. Before you know that there's another two [goals] and the game's gone.

"There's disappointment in the changing room and rightly so. You need to see that game out."

  20. Brighton backing Potterpublished at 18:54 British Summer Time 4 April 2021

Man Utd v Brighton (19:30 BST)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

The 3-2 home defeat by Manchester United in September was one of numerous instances of Brighton playing well but getting no points from a match this season.

I am told this is one of the reasons why faith in manager Graham Potter behind the scenes remains strong, even though the Brighton are fifth from bottom of the Premier League.

Fulham's defeat at Aston Villa gives them some breathing space though. Brighton are six points clear of Scott Parker's men, with a better goal difference and two games in hand.
