Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti to BBC Sport: “I think the attitude of the team was good, the quality of the play was not so good

"We were affected by the absences. In midfield we only had one attacking player available so we had difficulty building up and reaching our strikers with efficiency.

"The attitude and the spirit was good. We defended well, we tried to build-up from the back, but we had difficulty creating chances."

On the race for Europe: "We never talked about the top four. The target is to reach Europe and we are still there.

"There are important games and we have to recover some players first of all. I hope for the next game we have two or three more players available because we have an important game against Tottenham (on Friday)."

On the fitness of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Yerry Mina: “Dominic had a little problem yesterday in training. He travelled with us and tried this morning but he was not comfortable. It is a little problem and I hope he can recover for Friday.

“Yerry has a muscle problem and I think he will be out for a few weeks."

More from Carlo Ancelotti to Sky: "The last four games were not good. I hope to recover Allan soon and in a few weeks hopefully Abdoulaye Doucoure.

"We have to play against Tottenham, Arsenal, West Ham and two games against Aston Villa. All the games are really important if you want to reach Europe."

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti to Sky Sports: "It was difficult to judge. I think we tried our best. The attitude was good. We didn't play well from the back and we had difficulty reaching Richarlison and James Rodriguez. We missed some passes and were not able to have control of the game.

"On the bench we only had one player that had played a lot of games. But the players that played did a fantastic effort. We are not happy that we lost two points in the fight but now we have to try to recover players for the next game.

"[Yerry Mina] has a muscular problem so that's two-three weeks usually. He will not be available for Friday.

"It is not a good moment. The injured players is this. We have difficulties in this moment but we need to move on. We are still in the fight. It is more difficult but we will not give up. It is a strange season with unpredictable results. We can see something in this fight."

Brighton boss Graham Potter to Sky Sports: "I thought it was a good performance from us. I thought we had good intent. We tried to attack and played positively. We lacked a little bit of quality in the final third but defended well when we had to. It was a hard-earned point.

"I don't think there were loads of clear-cut chances. There were some opportunities. I don't think we worked the keeper enough. They were defensively set up to do well. It wasn't easy to find the space but we were the closest ones to scoring. The first half was a bit more even.

"We grew into the game. There were probably too many unforced errors but the way they defend makes it difficult as they are looking for duals. In the end I'm happy with the players. It's a point which we take on move on. The points are hard to come by in this league. It's another draw. We have played well but it's important to pick up points. It keeps the scoreboard ticking over.

"You always want a bit more but there's another team on the pitch and an opponent fighting for the win. The effort and intent was there we just missed that little bit to get the goal."

On the relegation battle: "It’s tight, there’s loads of football to play. Everyone is fighting, there’s lots of good teams down there. None of them are going to give up, we just have to keep fighting.

"You have to be wary of everybody [at the bottom] until it is mathematically possible. Three teams will go down, but they won’t be bad teams. They will be Premier League teams with good players.

“Until it’s done and we are there, we have to keep fighting.”

"In the first half we were sloppy at times and gave the ball away. We improved in the second half but couldn't get the goal to get the win.

"It was probably a stalemate. Both sides shut each other out. We just couldn't find the edge.

"A point is massive. It's another point on the board to safety. It was a good performance and a clean sheet at home which we've not had in a while."

Everton captain Seamus Coleman to Sky Sports: "Yeah it would be a massive disappointment [if we didn't qualify for Europe]. We have been given opportunities this season by other results. We just had to look after ourselves and we would have been in a better position.

"That would be the disappointment. We have full belief and obviously the manager we have has massive experience and doesn't panic. We have something to play for but yes there's no question we need to finish in European places.

"The morale is good. We have a good bunch of lads and we train hard. It's up to myself and a few of the experienced lads to keep that morale high at all times. We have a great manager and some top players. It's just about those results at home we need to brush up on massively.

"Since the owners came in we have had money to spend. You have to spend it on the right kind of people. Everton is a different football club. We want everyone to dig in and buy into the football club. This is a big football club and has had success.

"It's important when we do sign new players that they appreciate that. We want to do all we can now to make sure the club is in the best place possible. We have to believe in that and hopefully success can come."

Everton captain Seamus Coleman to Sky Sports: "It's a point away from home. Obviously we wanted to win the game but Brighton are a very good side. Our disappointment was probably not picking up all three points against Crystal Palace. This is probably a good point away from home.

"We don't want to harping on about injuries - there's plenty of other teams doing that. It's part and parcel of this season. Injuries do happen and unfortunately we missed a few. It's about the players who are playing.

"And no disrespect to these teams but against your Fulhams at home and your Newcastles, that's where your disappointment comes. It's hard to put your finger on it. Is it a mentality within the game?

"But we are six points off fifth with a game in hand so have something to play for between now and the end of the season so it's important we do that."

Only Manchester United (6) have drawn more Premier League matches 0-0 than Brighton (5) this season, while this was Everton’s first goalless draw of the campaign, leaving Sheffield United as the only side still yet to play out a 0-0 draw.
