Jan Bednarek comes crunching in from behind to give a sloppy free-kick away in the Saints half.

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at the Hawthorns

West Brom boss Sam Allardyce has laid it on the line in his programme notes this evening.

"I said (before Chelsea) that we needed six wins out of nine. Now we need five from eight - and that may not be enough."

And that was before Newcastle's win yesterday.

Not a lot of room for error.

  10. 'We have never looked down'published at 17:51 British Summer Time 12 April 2021

West Brom v Southampton (18:00 BST)

    Southampton

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl to Sky Sports: "The players deserved to play again. They showed that the performance, especially after the first half an hour, was a good one.

"We need to show that today from minute one. Hopefully we can show up immediately today.

"We have never really looked down. We have always looked in front and tried to climb up. The international break was good for us. We said after this break we had to be fresher in the mind and we have showed that in our performances.

"We have eight or nine matches left and hopefully we can pick up more points."

  11. 'A draw is not much use'published at 17:48 British Summer Time 12 April 2021

West Brom v Southampton (18:00 BST)

    West Bromwich Albion

More from West Brom boss Sam Allardyce: "We all know we have to win this game. A draw won't be much use to us, especially with the four points Newcastle have picked up in the last two games. Let's just take it game by game, try to win it and try to stay in touch if we can."

  12. 'Need to do it with right stability'published at 17:46 British Summer Time 12 April 2021

West Brom v Southampton (18:00 BST)

    West Bromwich Albion

West Brom boss Sam Allardyce to Sky Sports on Callum Robinson: "He showed the quality of his finishing on Saturday, along with Matheus Pereira and Mbaye Diagne. They are probably are best chances at scoring. Let's get those three on the ball as much as we can. That's not withstanding others chipping in too.

"We want to focus on winning but not going all-out, not going gung-ho. We need to do it with the right stability and that's with a good, solid defensive unit."

  13. 'Too much to do'published at 17:41 British Summer Time 12 April 2021

West Brom v Southampton (18:00 BST)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

Both of these had excellent wins last time out, and in Southampton's case their comeback victory over Burnley means they have 36 points - which should keep them up.

West Brom's 5-2 success at Chelsea was absolutely stunning and everything about their display was excellent, but their prospects look very different - for me, they have left themselves too much to do to get out of trouble.

    Prediction: 0-2

  20. European football up for grabspublished at 17:19 British Summer Time 12 April 2021

    Brighton v Everton (20:15 BST)

Everton's home form may have dented what was an explosive start to their season but they are still very much in the mix for European football.

The Toffees have played two games fewer than those currently in fourth and fifth place and remain only eight points off West Ham.

They could overtake Tottenham in seventh with victory tonight and move to within two points of rivals Liverpool, currently sat sixth in the table.
