Nottingham Forest claimed their first win in seven games to ease any relegation fears that may have been growing, while denting Cardiff's Championship play-off hopes in the process.

Nottingham Forest manager Chris Hughton said:

"It feels like a huge win because of the manner of it. We were up against a good side and you can see why they've had the ran they've had because they play in a way which is difficult to combat.

"They've got very good players and we had to battle really hard and sometimes you can get a better feel by grinding out a win like this than you can by playing a really open game.

"If we'd said that between Brentford and Cardiff away we'd pick up four points then we'd have been very happy. It's a really good feeling for us going into a tough game on Monday against a team in really good form."

Birmingham City v Swansea City (20:00 BST)

There's one more Championship fixture on the agenda this Good Friday once we're done at Oakwell.

St Andrew's Trillion Trophy Stadium is the venue as Lee Bowyer hopes to derail another promotion contender's plans at the start of his Blues managerial tenure when they host Swansea later.

Swansea will be desperate for the win to maintain their chances of climbing back into the top two.

  9. 'We're a work in progress'published at 18:30 British Summer Time 2 April 2021

    Bournemouth 3-1 Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough levelled at Bournemouth through Duncan Watmore but were ultimately well beaten by the Cherries and are now seven points outside the play-offs with seven games to play.

Speaking after his side's loss to Bournemouth, Middlesbrough manager Neil Warnock said:

"The goals were so disappointing to give away,

"I didn't see a threat and suddenly they scored - and the second one we should clear it.

"I thought when Duncan [Watmore] equalised there was only going to be one team who would win it, but you can't give goals like that away, it's elementary defending really.

"I think they are where they should be and we're a work in progress."

Bournemouth climbed back into the Championship's top six, temporarily at least, with victory over Middlesbrough, thanks to goals from Philip Billing, Jefferson Lerma and Dominic Solanke.

Bournemouth manager Jonathan Woodgate told BBC Radio Solent:

"We huffed and puffed at time but got the result in the end.

"They're difficult to play against, they go man on man all over the pitch and it was a task to try and break them down.

"First half we gave away a lot of sloppy balls and I told the players that at half-time and then we got a great reaction when the game went 1-1."

  11. 'The disappointment is unbelievable'published at 18:24 British Summer Time 2 April 2021

Championship leaders Norwich looked set to claim a 10th win in 11 games until Brad Potts popped up with a deflected equaliser deep into stoppage time for Preston. The Canaries remain six points clear of second-placed Watford, who beat Sheffield Wednesday, but are 15 ahead of Swansea, in third, before their game at Birmingham City this evening.

Norwich manager Daniel Farke told BBC Radio Norfolk:

“We did enough to win the game and the disappointment is unbelievable.

“But we edge a point closer but we didn’t deserve not to win this game but football can be the most unjust sport in the world.

“The second half we were so dominant, we created so many chances and didn’t give them even one shot until the very end.

“Four minutes were over when Tim Krul puts the ball up and everyone expected the final whistle. Perhaps then we could have could had more pressure on the ball and not allowed them to play a long ball.”

Reading have weathered the storm, been pushed and shoved off the ball at times so far, but they have grabbed the lead.

A lovely side-foot finish from Ovie Ejaria from the edge of the penalty box after Andy Rinomhota's ball over the top picks him out with precision.

Ejaria takes a brilliant first touch to push it out of his feet before slotting it under the body of Bradley Collins.
