It's almost a repeat of the goal that was disallowed. That pace from Werner running into the channel. This time he stays onside. Ziyech is waiting for the moment. A perfect weight on the ball, it was a simple finish in end. It's that pace that does all the damage. The high line from City was a gamble and they've been punished.

    Breakthrough!

It is almost a repeat of the goal Chelsea had ruled out earlier but this time Timo Werner stays onside before breaking into the box and squaring for Hakim Ziyech to sweep home.

Danger for Chelsea as Fernandinho strides into space in the middle before playing the ball forward to Raheem Sterling. The Manchester City forward tries to get past César Azpilicueta but the Chelsea skipper holds his ground well.

Maybe we were expecting too much with the workload these teams have had in recent weeks and recent days.

    Chelsea 0-0 Man City

Manchester City have made a decent start to this half and Phil Foden is straight into the action as he clips the ball across goal to Gabriel Jesus but his header hits Reece James and Kepa Arrizabalaga is able to scoop up the loose ball.

It didn’t look as if De Bruyne turned his ankle. It must have been a jarring more than anything.

He did stamp down on it quite hard. He’s not happy and he’s not walking particularly well.

Fernandinho plays a ball over the top and Ferran Torres chases after it but is just beaten to the ball by Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Another big tactical game, another week of neutrals crying about being bored. It’s modern fans that kill football, not modern football.

    Tim, not bored from London

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 47 mins

An early blow for Manchester City at the start of the second half because Kevin de Bruyne is down injured after an awkward landing on his ankle as he tried to keep the ball in play.

Phil Foden is on in his place.

The second half has GOT to be better than the first, surely?

    We're back under way.

It shows the respect Pep has got for Tuchel, the way City have set up. It’s been about 50-50 on possession and Chelsea have been the better side.

You've got to give credit to Chelsea, they’ve become a really good side. I was critical when Tuchel arrived because of my affection for Lampard. If they get a number nine they'll be an incredible team.

Whoever scores the first goal will probably go on to win the game.

There is mutual respect and understanding of two dangerous teams. You don’t want to give away something cheap too early. Tactically it’s been a good game.

Chelsea have been the better team. They've shown more ambition to get forward and caused them one or two problems with their wing-backs. The only chance really fell to Chilwell.

TheTurboBear: Two teams playing "patient possession football" which means there's a lot of sideways passes. Don't remember a game this dull this season. I'm gonna play some chess for a pick-me-up.

Ashwin R: Where are the people raving about City? It’s been their usual boring sterile sideways passing style. So many people call this philosophy. At least it cures insomnia! Better watch Burnley play than City.

If this was full and heaving with fans, you'd kind of force both teams to play a little bit better. City fans would have been on to their team saying ‘this isn’t good enough’.

We need to hope the two managers put some urgency into both their teams.

NH: It’s like watching paint dry this one so far . Walking pace.

Mike: City fans need to remember that Chelsea have player for player pretty much as strong a squad as we do. Also they have a superb coach. It’s not Lampard any more. This was always going to be tough.

Kevin de Bruyne's corner is too deep but Raheem Sterling picks up the ball and sends it back into the box for Fernandinho, who flicks a header wide.
