Saint-Maximin is in the wars again and it is once more Kabak who clatters him near halfway, this time in an aerial duel.

The Reds defender needs to be careful here. He's already been booked.

Back at Anfield. Saint-Maximin goes a fraction early to receive a pass in the Liverpool box and is flagged offside. For a second, the home defence was in a real flap.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is, as usual, looking to impact the game further forward. His low ball between full-back and centre-back finds Mane but he pokes his effort over the bar.

Armchair Football Fan: Normally I think Salah isn't the demi-god he is described as, but that first touch to leave Ritchie behind was brilliant. Very little he could do.

David Ljunggren: Matt Ritchie showing us yet again, sadly, that he is not good enough to be a consistent performer at this level.

There's is the visitors' strategy. Camp in, frustrate Liverpool and the n try and get the ball to Saint-Maximin.

They do exactly that, with Kabak hacking down the winger in the centre circle to earn a deserved yellow card.

Saint-Maximin is limping now. His departure would absolutely hammer Newcastle's chances of getting anything.

Newcastle simply aren't touching the ball at the moment. They're just chasing it as Liverpool shift it around in their half.

I think Newcastle will be all right now, they've done enough. They’ll make things very difficult for Liverpool today.

They can play with a freedom they’ve been unable to play with for most of the season. That said, their record at Anfield is hopeless.
