Alireza Jahanbakhsh is causing all sorts of problems since coming on and he does well to get into the box on the right and plays a brilliant ball across the face of goal. Neal Maupay looks certain to tap in but he scoops it over from ridiculously close range.

Huge let off for the hosts.

Ourhandsaretied: Once again, lots of random people are thinking they know the rules better than referees. I've never heard of a rule where you can't be offside if the ball went backwards. Only being behind the ball makes a difference as far as I'm aware.

So playing the ball backwards is counted as offside...? I’m confused!

    Marcus

That offside decision is completely wrong. The ball didn't go forward and so the player can't be offside. VAR got it completely wrong.

    Mark

How can he be offside? The ball is played backwards...or do i not know the rules?

    It has been coming!

It's a bit scrappy as a corner is flicked on and the ball bounces off Adam Webster's head and Jakub Moder stabs in.

Wait, VAR is having a look though.

  18. GREAT SAVE!published at 53 mins

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Brighton

Slick, slick football from Brighton as only a great save by Aaron Ramsdale keeps them out.

Jakub Moder flicks the ball forward and Danny Welbeck takes one touch to play in Neal Maupay but his low drive is pushed behind by Ramsdale.

Brighton had as many shots on target in the first 10 seconds of the second half as they managed in the entirety of the first half (one).

They have made a really positive start to this half, Sheffield United can barely get out.
