From nowhere Sheffield United have a chance as George Baldock cuts the ball back into the middle of the box for Jayden Bogle but he pokes his effort straight at Robert Sanchez.

James Smith: Brighton in trouble, still have to play West Ham, Man City and Arsenal. Fulham have 3 winnable games. Burnley have a couple as well.
Sheff Utd 1-0 Brighton
Alireza Jahanbakhsh wins a corner for Brighton - their 10th of the game. It is played short but eventually dealt with by the Blades.
Sheff Utd 1-0 Brighton
Alireza Jahanbakhsh is causing all sorts of problems since coming on and he does well to get into the box on the right and plays a brilliant ball across the face of goal. Neal Maupay looks certain to tap in but he scoops it over from ridiculously close range.
Huge let off for the hosts.

Ourhandsaretied: Once again, lots of random people are thinking they know the rules better than referees. I've never heard of a rule where you can't be offside if the ball went backwards. Only being behind the ball makes a difference as far as I'm aware.
Sheff Utd 1-0 Brighton
A dangerous ball is played into the box from the right by Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Danny Welbeck stretches to meet it but can't get enough to get his header on target.
Relentless pressure from Brighton. Can Sheffield United hold out?

Yves Bissouma thumps an effort just wide of the far post as Brighton come forward again.
The Seagulls make a double change as Pascal Gross and Jakub Moder are replaced by Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Aaron Connolly.

A Brighton change looks to be in the offing too.

Finally a shot for the Blades as David McGoldrick cuts inside after linking up with Ben Osborn but his shot is saved by Roger Sanchez.

So playing the ball backwards is counted as offside...? I’m confused!
Marcus
That offside decision is completely wrong. The ball didn't go forward and so the player can't be offside. VAR got it completely wrong.
Mark
How can he be offside? The ball is played backwards...or do i not know the rules?

Sheffield United haven't had a shot since the 27th minute.
After a very encouraging display in the first half they don't appear to have emerged from the changing rooms yet.

OK Mr Potter, time for plan B...if you have one.

Brighton are not easing up, though, as Adam Lallana flicks a header just wide.
Keep this pressure up and it won't be long before Brighton score a legitimate goal.
Sheff Utd 1-0 Brighton
Relief for Sheffield United!
VAR clocks that Jakub Moder had come back from an offside position to score, so it won't count.
Jakub Moder
It has been coming!
It's a bit scrappy as a corner is flicked on and the ball bounces off Adam Webster's head and Jakub Moder stabs in.
Wait, VAR is having a look though.
Sheff Utd 1-0 Brighton
This is a real testing period for Sheffield United as Brighton keep up the pressure as another Neal Maupay effort is deflected behind for a corner.
Sheff Utd 1-0 Brighton
Slick, slick football from Brighton as only a great save by Aaron Ramsdale keeps them out.
Jakub Moder flicks the ball forward and Danny Welbeck takes one touch to play in Neal Maupay but his low drive is pushed behind by Ramsdale.

Kieran Reid: Typical when teams are already relegated they then decide to play like world beaters.
Sheff Utd 1-0 Brighton
Brighton had as many shots on target in the first 10 seconds of the second half as they managed in the entirety of the first half (one).
They have made a really positive start to this half, Sheffield United can barely get out.
