Yves Bissouma, always capable of a beauty from distance, works a bit of space for himself 25 yards from goal and has a pop but this isn't one of his better efforts as the ball flies high and wide.

  8. Postpublished at 41 mins

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Brighton

Nice footwork from Yves Bissouma earns Brighton a corner as the Sheffield United defence takes no chances. Pascal Gross' first delivery is put behind for another corner before his second is cleared.

Can someone tell Mr Potter if he brings Jahanbakhsh on up front in a 4-4-2 he'll win the game? I'll put my house on it!

Kevin Friend has a think about blowing for a free kick on the edge of the Sheffield United area but in the end says no.

There's a bit of confidence about Sheffield United's play, as though they are released from the significant burden of a relegation fight.

They are playing some decent stuff at the moment which, if they keep the squad together, could point to good signs for a promotion charge next season.

Michael Reid: Looking at the Balbuena 'foul' earlier, McGoldrick's challenge there should have been a straight red card as he caught Webster on the foot... what's the difference to earlier?

  15. Postpublished at 29 mins

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Brighton

Brighton embark on a nice, sweeping attack as the ball is worked forward through Adam Lallana and Pascal Gross. However, Gross' low ball into the box is read well by Ollie Norwood, who cuts the pass out and brings the ball out of danger.

David McGoldrick has a yellow card to go with his goal as he is booked for a foul.

Sheffield United are very much in the ascendancy after taking the lead and win a corner but Brighton deal with it.

  17. Postpublished at 24 mins

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Brighton

Some more David McGoldrick stats for you (can never have enough).

He has scored 39% of Sheffield United's goals in the Premier League this season (7/18); the highest percentage of any player for his team in the competition.

  18. Postpublished at 22 mins

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Brighton

David McGoldrick loves a goal against Brighton. He only has more league goals against Leeds (six) and Doncaster (five) than he does against the Seagulls (four).

Like I said earlier, Brighton are more than likely safe but a win would have allowed them to breathe much more easily. Work to do.

    The hosts take the lead!

A mistake in the Brighton defence allows Ben Osborn to break forward. He swings a great cross into the box for David McGoldrick. The ball is half cleared to the edge of the area where a ricochet sees it deflect into McGoldrick's path and he swipes home.

A touch of fortune about the goal, but Sheffield United have not had a lot of that this season.

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Brighton

Brighton have a free kick midway inside the Sheffield United half on the right flank after Yves Bissouma is fouled. The ball is sent towards the back post but the Blades head away.
