I don't think the goal will change Moyes' team talk too much. The Hammers have a better run in to the end of the season than Chelsea. Moyes will be happy with a point here if they can get it.

We've had the bubbles, we've had the whistle. The second half is under way. Advantage Chelsea. No changes for either side

Hackers: Werner must have been reading the comments on the live text page.

DanHayes16: Haven’t altered my FPL team since game week 1.... I knew Timo Werner would be the long game play.

Say what you want about Timo Werner, but wow he works hard. No one deserved that goal more than him. Have to applaud his perseverance.

People whining about the handball, yes he moves into it but it hit him above the short sleeve - not a handball under the rules whether you like them or not.

    Pat

Wilson handball, Azpilicueta no handball. The game is broken!

    West Ham 0-1 Chelsea

Timo Werner has now scored 11 goals and assisted another nine in all competitions - the most goals and assists combined of any Chelsea players.

That goal was Werner's first away from home since scoring at Turf Moor in Chelsea's 3-0 win against Burnley in October 2020.

  7. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:17 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

    West Ham 0-1 Chelsea

It's that old classic of a timely goal just before the break. It'll change Moyes' half-time team-talk I tell ya!

Chelsea lead at the interval through Werner's goal.

    Breakthrough!

This is all about Timo Werner. The German shows strength to hold off his marker and roll him before finding Pulisic to continue an attack.

Chilwell is in space on the left and fires a lovely low ball to the penalty spot for Werner, who has held his run and finishes superbly first time.

Maybe he's not so bad after all, eh?

  9. YELLOW CARDpublished at 18:12 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

    West Ham 0-0 Chelsea

Lingard gets away from Christensen, who pulls the England winger down. Cynical. Totally deserves a yellow.

West Ham would have preferred the three on two that would have developed, though.

Specs: Some of the handballs we've seen given, and that one isn't. It's a split second decision and no his arm isn't too far away from his body, but Azpilicueta 100% dips his arm into that.

West Ham enjoying their best little spell of the game now. They win another corner that is whipped in and cleared by a combination of Christensen and Mendy.

Oh, that's the closest we've come to a goal. Soucek pokes a shot through a packed box towards goal and it is blocked in front of the net by Azpilicueta and dribbles past the post.

VAR has a check for a handball. It definitely did hit the arm but after it had struck the Chelsea man in the torso.

Earlier in the season, that would probably have been a penalty. Not now, though.

  13. Postpublished at 18:04 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

Jesse Lingard finally gets a yard to have a shot. It is from way out and doesn't even make it into the box, with a Chelsea body blocking.

Yeah, I wish it wasn't the case when I have to sit here and watch them closely, but Chelsea are a team to admire more then truly enjoy.

They're good. They're clearly good. But it is all very clinical.

Mount finds Werner in the box and the German twists and turns before firing wide. That has been indicative of the Chelsea attacks so far. Some promise but ultimately lacking in any ruthlessness or real quality.

OK, I'm starting to have my first doubts. The opening 25 minutes have felt like two sides with at least one eye on not losing the game.

Chelsea have been the more positive, but they've not really tested Fabianski yet.

Werner is a poor forward but consistently assists from wide positions, perhaps when we stop talking about Werner as a forward he'll get less criticism.

    Simon, London

Werner will come good. One of the best players in Europe last couple of seasons before joining. Confidence is just knocked, he is world class.
