  1. Big six woespublished at 17:23 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

West Ham v Chelsea (17:30 BST)

Moyes' side can certainly improve on their record against the one-time Super League six, though.

Their only victory in 11 league fixtures this season against the established top six came at home to Spurs in February (D3, L7).

  2. Hammer timepublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

West Ham v Chelsea (17:30 BST)

You can't fault West Ham really this season.

Having struggled last campaign, they have equalled the club Premier League record of 16 victories in a season and need eight points to surpass their highest Premier League points total, set in 2016.

The Hammers have the division's second best home record this season, with 31 points. They need one home win to reach 10 in the top flight for the first time since 2001-02.

David Moyes' side can equal their longest Premier League unbeaten run at London Stadium on Saturday: six matches from January to March 2019.

  3. Raise your batpublished at 17:20 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

West Ham v Chelsea (17:30 BST)

This is the 100th top-flight meeting. West Ham are vying to win successive home league games against Chelsea for the first time in 18 years.

However, Chelsea were 3-0 winners at Stamford Bridge in December and can earn an eighth Premier League double over West Ham.

  4. Two shots at Champions Leaguepublished at 17:18 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

West Ham v Chelsea (17:30 BST)

For Chelsea, this is their opportunity to show just why they are considered amongst Europe's elite.

They have another chance to reach next season's Champions League, with them through to the last four of this season's competition.

But with Real Madrid in their immediate way and Man City or PSG to follow, they won't want to bank on that avenue as the more certain of the two.

Azrael: West Ham have been the surprise team of the season so far. They've been fantastic up until now.

James Owen: As a Leicester fan, I'm very much hoping for a bore 0-0 draw.

  7. Chance to make a pointpublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

West Ham v Chelsea (17:30 BST)

West Ham may feel they have a big point to prove today. The European Super League was something of an affront to those non-'big six' clubs that are currently in the frame for Champions League qualification and threatened their ability to compete as they are doing this season.

Today, they can fire a few shots over the bow of a club who at one stage were looking to join the proposed competition and cement their status.

West Ham v Chelsea (17:30 BST)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

This is a big game in terms of the top four and I just wonder if West Ham might be in a bit of a trough at the moment after their defeat by Newcastle last time out.

Declan Rice and Michail Antonio are injured and Craig Dawson is suspended after his red card against the Magpies.

Chelsea did not do a lot in their draw against Brighton on Tuesday, although that game was overshadowed by what was happening to the plans for the ESL. Thankfully that is not something we have to worry about anymore.

The Blues have got their Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid on Tuesday so boss Thomas Tuchel might rest players, although it is difficult to know what his priority will be.

Chelsea need to be in the Champions League next season, and you would think that qualifying for it through their league position is going to be a lot easier than winning it to get back in it. So I would be very surprised if Tuchel seriously messes with his team on Saturday.

    Prediction: 0-2

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, speaking to Sky Sports: "For me personally I switched off all internet around me for two days after our last game. It's business as usual and it's a big game coming up.

"It's not decisive because there are some more matches to play. Nothing is decided after this game. We want the three points but know it's going to be hard.

"We are very solid in crucial games but know we have to deliver."

Love this time of year. Promotions and relegations, drama and tension. And the play-offs still to come.

Speaking of which, one of the teams in the play-offs is Bournemouth, meaning we could have a very rare occasion of all three relegated teams from last year coming straight back up.

Usually at least one them keeps sinking.

Watford have followed in Norwich's footsteps in making an instant return to the top-flight.

Their 1-0 win over Millwall means they can't be caught by the chasing pack in the Championship.

  16. Football League latestpublished at 16:47 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

It's getting tight and tense at the bottom of the Championship. Birmingham have come from behind to lead at Derby to keep Wayne Rooney's side bang in bother. The only positive for them is that Rotherham and Sheffield Wednesday below them are both losing.

Meanwhile, at the top, Watford are closing in on an immediate return to the Premier League.

You can follow the closing stages here.

  17. State of playpublished at 16:44 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

West Ham v Chelsea (17:30 BST)

West Ham and Chelsea have both played 32 games and both have 55 points. The only thing separating them is a goal difference of eight goals in favour of the Blues, largely as a result of the defensive solidity ushered in by Thomas Tuchel.

A win for either side this evening ensures fourth for the weekend and takes them four points clear of sixth.

  18. Top four beckonspublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 24 April 2021

You can never take anything for granted in football, but I'm pretty sure both West Ham and Chelsea assumed they would playing to take a top-four spot off Liverpool this evening.

The Premier League isn't one for towing the line, though, and Newcastle's draw at the Reds - secured in dramatic fashion in injury time - means this is a straight shoot-out for the chance to really stake a claim for Champions Leaguw football next season.

    Big evening for Timo Werner.
