Southampton

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl to BBC Sport: "Big credit. We can discuss the red card and for me how we bounced back was amazing. They had 80 minutes to score against us. The goal we conceded, but the rest was really well defended around the box."

On the red card: "Jannik Vestergaard has a bad touch and then plays the ball back to the keeper. The official explanation was it was 100% goal chance - for me Jamie Vardy never had the ball because the keeper was there. Maybe a foul because he caught him after but not a red card.

"It's a VAR decision and we have this season a few interesting things from VAR against us. It shouldn't put away the view on what we made today. This was a good signal we are able to defend against such a team with one man down.

"Defensively it was one of our best games."

Leicester City

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers to Sky Sports on the scenario of Chelsea and Arsenal winning the Champions and Europa League respectively and how that could affect Leicester's European pursuit.

"I haven't even thought about that to be honest. You guys will be talking about it but it's not a condideration. If it's not good enough [finishing in fourth place] then so be it."

Leicester City

More from Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers: "It's a point towards where we want to go. The speed of our game wasn't at the level until we went behind in the game.

"When the opposition go down to 10 men we're normally good in those situations but you have to credit Southampton to show that resilience and to keep us out. Jamie Vardy is a warrior so he got up and Alex McCarthy made a great save from him.

"You have to work the opposition then have those quick combinations and quality. We couldn't quite manage that final pass tonight. Normally we enjoy it but tonight it was frustrating for us.

"We did everything with as many attacking players as we could to win the game.

"The disappointment will last for 24 hours of course. But it's a point towards where we want to go. We weren't good enough on the evening to get three points but we'll go again on Monday and hopefully have enough."

Southampton

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl to PLP: "The way we defended today was more committed and more deserved because the red card for me was not a red card.

"Absolutely [it changed the game]. He played the ball back to the goalkeeper. Jamie Vardy never had control of the ball. The explanation was he had a clear goalscoring opportunity but for me it is not a clear goal chance.

"I had a good feeling. We had a very good first 10 minutes. We had a big chance with Nathan Tella then this changes everything. Then it is about how you can defend. We nearly had the chance to win also but maybe that was a little too much. There was still a long time to go but until that moment we didn't give them many chances. After the goal they had more chances.

"The guys still tried everything and deserved to get something I think. One point was very important today and big for everybody this season."

Leicester City

Leicester midfielder James Maddison to Sky Sports: "We had chances to win the game. When you are against 10 men for such large periods you should be winning the game. They played in a low-block so it was hard to break them down but we created chances. We have been good against 10 men and good at coming from behind so I still had hope right up until the last minute.

"It's tough because we got into a couple of good opportunities but we didn't have that cutting edge we've had for most of the season.

"I'm still getting up to my full match fitness. I've still got a bit to go to my top level. That was good to get 90 minutes. I felt okay but I'm always looking to improve."

On getting top four: "It's not that simple. There's so much football to be played and so much to happen. We can't get caught up in that. We just have to win football matches and see where we are after 38 matches."

Leicester City

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers to Sky Sports: "A little frustrating, I don't think we did enough to win the game. A great opportunity against 10 men and we're normally very good at that. Give credit to Southampton, they defended deep and compact but we're disappointed.

"We had no change to how we played - it's an advantage for you. The speed was too slow. We didn't really start to play with that tempo until we got the equaliser.

"I haven't seen the red card back. I need to see it again.

"We had a lot of ball on the sides so we took off the defenders to get attacking impetus. We arrived in good positions but didn't have the timing when we got in there.

"When we get back in again on Monday it is another point towards where we want to go. We've now got four games to go. We're in a brilliant position."

Brendan Rodgers asked if this feels like it was a missed opportunity: "It does now but it's another point towards where we want to go."

Leicester have 63 points after 34 matches which is already one more than their final Premier League points total in 2019-20.

Southampton

More from Southampton's Alex McCarthy: "Everyone was putting blocks in left, right and centre. The mentality of everyone defending was top drawer. That's what we want to see every week.

"It's so tough when you go one man down but we have that grit and determination. We wanted to get a result so badly. We well deserved the point.

"Obviously we want to finish up the table as high as possible. We will take all the positives and keep trying to push up the table."

Southampton

Southampton keeper Alex McCarthy: "It's massive. Obviously going into the game results haven't been great for us but to get a point with 10 men was an unbelievable effort from the lads.

"It's always hard when you go a man down, especially so early on. We had to soak it up in the second half. Unbelievable effort, I'm buzzing for the team."

On the red card decision: "It looked like [Jannik Vestergaard] got the ball first but might have followed through on [Jamie Vardy]. It was hard to see but I thought it was a little bit harsh. I thought I was getting to the ball so I'm not sure about [it denying a goalscoring opportunity]."

As it stands, Leicester are five points above Chelsea in fourth.

Chelsea take on Fulham tomorrow so can close that gap to two points.

West Ham, currently in fifth place, are eight points off with a game in hand on Leicester.

Big point for Southampton, who were down to 10 men for over 80 minutes.

Leicester's chase to confirm a top four spot takes a bit of a hit.

Che Adams is off. On comes Daniel N'Lundulu.

Timothy Castagne volleys it over the bar at the back post.

Stuart Armstrong has nowhere to go but the corner flag. He doesn't keep it there long and Leicester will have another go at them.

Marc Albrighton curls it in and Kelechi Iheanacho almost flicks it into the far corner with Alex McCarthy coming charging off his line and completely missing the ball!

Jamie Vardy has acres of space on the left. He takes on Kyle Walker-Peters, sends him one way, then tees up Wilfred Ndidi.

He flashes at it from the edge of the box and drags the shot wide. That was a chance!

Jonny Evans is offside as the free-kick comes in from the right by Leicester.

Southampton need to hold on for another four minutes plus stoppage time. This would be a very good point.
