As it stands, Sheffield Wednesday have 40 points and are three points behind 21st-placed Derby County, who play Swansea later today.

If it stays like this and Derby avoid defeat, the Owls will be down later today.

Jordan Rhodes in the mean time, sees his shot blocked into the path of Adam Reach who fires across the face of the Nottingham Forest goal.

James Garner stands over a free-kick for Nottingham Forest just outside the Sheffield Wednesday box.

He lets fly but his effort is high over the crossbar. 10 minutes to go. A huge 10 minutes.

At the other end, James Garner looks to work onto a loose ball inside the Sheffield Wednesday box.

He's right in front of goal and turns and shoots but he slices his effort wide.

Another let off for the Owls.

Sheffield Wednesday are really playing with more urgency now as they drive forward.

Barry Bannan races into the box, tees up Liam Palmer who sees his shot blocked before Callum Paterson also sees his effort thwarted by the Nottingham Forest back line.

  5. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 74 mins

Lyle Taylor comes on for Nottingham Forest as he replaces Lewis Grabban.

Will it be Forest who bag themselves a late winner in light of this change?

The corner that follows that Brice Samba save sees him collect it back from Barry Bannan.

A waste for Sheffield Wednesday, with time ticking down in this match. They really need to win today.

Are we in for a dramatic late winner to pile the pressure on Derby County?

Oof! Nearly one of the most important goals Josh Windass has scored.

The Sheffield Wednesday man gets onto the ball on the right flank and goes into the box and unleashes a shot which Brice Samba diverts into the post.

Anthony Knockaert goes into the book for a cynical foul on Julian Borner.

Sheffield Wednesday win a free-kick and they squander it as it exits the box no sooner is it sent in.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 67 mins

My word this game is frustrating. Anthony Knockaert gets onto a lovely long ball for Nottingham Forest and he races into the box.

He has numerous opportunities to put a shot at goal but in the end he plays it short and it eventually falls to Cafu who fires well wide of the mark.

He's then hauled off for the visitors as Alex Mighten comes on.

Yuri Ribeiro has treatmentImage source, PA Media

James Garner finally takes the Nottingham Forest free-kick after a fair bit of treatment for Yuri Ribeiro.

He curls it straight into the box and Sheffield Wednesday keeper Keiren Westwood just about gets hold of it after it takes a bounce in front of him.

Callum Paterson earns himself a yellow card after taking out Yuri Ribeiro on the near side of the pitch.

Ribeiro is down receiving treatment. That looked like it hurt. A body check if I've ever seen one.

Kadeem Harris works onto Joey Pelupessy's short ball after he won it back from Nottingham Forest deep in their half of the field.

Harris opts to let fly with a low strike on the 18-yard line which is blocked and he wins a corner.

Jordan Rhodes gets a head onto the corner but it's straight into the hands of Forest keeper Brice Samba.

A Sheffield Wednesday free-kick sails out and away and Nottingham Forest win the ball back.

At the other end, Cafu picks up the ball in acres of space outside the Owls' box but he opts to pass it instead and eventually Sheffield Wednesday win it back.

This still isn't a quality game, despite Wednesday playing with a bit more urgency.

Sheffield Wednesday need a goal and naturally, they're sending Jordan Rhodes on.

Andre Green makes way as the Owls desperately try to force a goal to put themselves in the mix of a survival shout.

Lewis Grabban picks up the ball inside the Sheffield Wednesday box as he looks to turn and shoot from close range.

The Owls swiftly block his effort and eventually win a free-kick just outside the area.

At the other end, Sheffield Wednesday are living dangerously right now as no sooner do they have a succession of chances in the Nottingham Forest box do they almost concede.

Lewis Grabban gets onto Julian Borner's mishit backpass and, at an acute angle, he fires into the side netting.

A let off for the hosts.

Adam Reach plays Kadeem Harris through on the left wing as Sheffield Wednesday really attack this second half.

He looks to put a cross into the box but it's well dealt with by the visitors.

  18. YELLOW CARDpublished at 48 mins

    Sheff Wed 0-0 Nottm Forest

Ryan Yates goes into the book for a cynical foul on Kadeem Harris as Sheffield Wednesday win the ball back following an early charge by Nottingham Forest.

Harris then does well from the free-kick that follows as he gets into the Forest box and wins a throw-in in a useful area.

  19. KICK-OFFpublished at 45 mins

    Sheff Wed 0-0 Nottm Forest

We are back under way at Hillsborough after Nottingham Forest took a while to come out of their dressing room.

It's a season-defining 45 minutes for Sheffield Wednesday. Lose and they're down. Anything else as they're in with a shout for now.

A win is what they need and even that might be too little, too late depending on what happens later.

Blimey, after an absolutely dire first half, there's drama right on the verge of the half-time whistle.

To give some more context to the penalty, clearly what Sheffield Wednesday were trying to do was build from the back, only for that to fall flat on its face.

But Keiren Westwood pulls off a tremendous save to keep it goalless and keep them fighting for the second half.
