When Crystal Palace have been behind at half-time (11 times before today), they have only been able to salvage a point on one occasion, against Tottenham in December - the Eagles have gone on to lose their 10 other games when trailing after 45 minutes.

Ed: Palace look good when Eze, Townsend or Zaha have the ball. One will come off later for the functional Ayew and another for a defensive midfielder. These aren't likely to help them score more goals, and won't make them more defensively solid either.

Only Everton's Calvert Lewin (7) and Manchester United's Cavani (6) have scored more headed goals in the PL this season than Christian Benteke (5).

Benteke has scored his 31st headed goal in the Premier League, going level with Tim Cahill for such goals. He now ranks joint-ninth all-time for headed goals in the competition.

He has scored in three consecutive Premier League appearances for the first time since December 2016, while this was his first goal against Aston Villa since leaving the club.

Palace come back at Villa - Eberechi Eze feeding in Zaha, who cuts it back for Cahill at the near post.

The defender can't poke it in under pressure from Kortney Hause. He's offside too.

James McCarthy moves nicely through the middle. He links up with Andros Townsend, he feeds in Christian Benteke.

Benteke tries to flick it through to McCarthy, who had continued his run into the box, but the touch is heavy and pushes him wide.
