Another draw for us tonight I fear which would make it almost impossible for us to get top 4. Bring on the season's end.

Nice move from Liverpool, who work it out from the back before Diogo Jota flicks it on to Mohamed Salah on the right.
Southampton quickly chase him down and he has two men on him. He tries to cut inside but loses possession just outside the box.

Alisson sees Sadio Mane in space on the left and tries to find him with a quick clearance.
He smashes it straight out for a throw-in. Jurgen Klopp gives him the look.

James Ward-Prowse whips in an early corner from the right but Jannik Vestergaard is stretching to head it.

I wish we’d revert to Klopp's mentality of the first season which was just to outscore the opposition. We have only a few games left and are bound to concede with THREE first choice central defenders missing. Go for it.

Nick: What on earth happens at the Liverpool training ground to get so many injuries?

Mohamed Salah has scored seven goals in seven Premier League appearances against Southampton, including five in three against them at Anfield.

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl to Sky Sports: "Because of our not so good second half of the season we still don't have the points.
"We have three home games after today. We face an opponent today where we did a good job the last time. Anfield without fans is not the same."
On his goalkeepers: "There is not so much difference between these guys. They have other qualities than the other one. It's good to have two you can trust.
"It's only okay if I give them chances to play and show up because they deserve it."

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp to Sky Sports: "Rhys Williams has been doing really well in training. They are not the most experienced centre-back pairing but we have to work together so they can show how good they are.
"If we can put pressure on [teams battling for a top four spot], we can only do that by winning our own games. Southampton are a good team."

I'm backing Liverpool to beat a Southampton team that is missing striker Danny Ings and does not have much to play for.
But, even if they do take the three points on Saturday, it is going to be a real struggle for Jurgen Klopp's side to finish fourth now.
Firstly, Liverpool are relying on the teams above them to slip up, which I can't really see happening, but more importantly they are not playing well enough to go on the kind of run they need to make up ground.
Prediction: 2-0

Danny Ings is still recovering from a hamstring problem so won't face his former club tonight.
He scored the winner in the second minute of that victory over Liverpool back in January.

Ed O'Toole: Evening Emma. No doubt Liverpool won’t capitalise on Spurs and Leicester’s losses. Prediction: Liverpool will have loads of chances, perhaps score from one before conceding late to lose or draw the game.
Good evening, Ed!
Liverpool v Southampton (20:15 BST)
Southampton's 1-0 victory in January's reverse fixture ended their six-match losing streak against Liverpool in the league.
Saints can complete the league double over Liverpool for only the third time, having done so in 1960-61 and 2003-04.
Liverpool are unbeaten in the past six league meetings at Anfield, winning the last three by an aggregate score of 10-0.

There are a lot of games for Liverpool to pack in after the postponement of last week's game at Old Trafford, but I am backing them to make it into the top four, don’t write them off.
I think they might just do it.
Liverpool v Southampton (20:15 BST)
While Liverpool's home form has taken a dip, Southampton's form in general has been on a steep downward curve.
They have earned the fewest points (11) and conceded the most goals (40) in the Premier League in 2021.
They have also dropped a league-high 23 points from winning positions this season and have suffered eight defeats in the past nine Premier League away fixtures.
Liverpool v Southampton (20:15 BST)
Liverpool's home form has been unusually poor this season.
Without the fans, Anfield has been a bit of an unkind location.
They have suffered six top-flight home defeats in a season for the first time in 67 years.
And their only victory in their past 10 league games at Anfield came against Aston Villa when Trent Alexander-Arnold scored a stoppage-time winner.
They will want to avoid a seventh home defeat today. The last time that happened was in 1937-38.
Jurgen Klopp is also one short of 100 wins at Anfield in all competitions (W99, D35, L17).
