Writing in the match programme, Brighton boss Graham Potter says his side have made progress this season - despite struggling near the bottom.

The Seagulls have secured a fifth successive Premier League campaign, and Potter adds: "We’re still a work in progress but I’ve been happy, overall, with the way we’ve played, the way the players have taken on board the messages we’ve given them, and their attitude both in training and in games.

"There’s also a real togetherness which we’ve harnessed, but there is still plenty of room for improvement – and we’ll keep working hard, both individually and collectively, to reach our goals."

Really comfortable for Man Utd. An amazing goal from Edinson Cavani. The fans have been treated to a genius moment from him. Fulham are struggling to have any impact on this game.

    Glenn Murray
Nottingham Forest striker on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

On quite a number of occasions Southampton are getting to the edge of the Leeds penalty area, but playing the wrong ball.

We thought there would be goals, but it's 0-0. It's a good game though and both sets of players have benefitted from fans being back in the stadium - it just gives that extra bit of impetus

Story of the season - concede dodgy, dubious goal, miss a sitter, go down.

Can't see Carvalho being at Fulham for long, lots of promise there.

A chant of Red Army breaks out in the stands. It's all gone a bit flat as half-time looms. Marcelo Bielsa will be pleased his side are heading for the break unscathed after a strong half by Saints.

Get up Joe Bryan. That's poor. It's a flick of the finger on the face and he goes down. Whether he caught him in the eye I'm not sure. There's nothing in it at all from Greenwood.

VAR disallows goals for somebody's toenail being offside and then fails to spot the Cavani is 5 yards offside! Fernandes clearly doesn't touch the ball so how has VAR got the decision wrong?

    Grant, Plymouth

Cavani is literally 5 feet offside. Really, what is the point of var if it cannot even get that right? From the time taken, it cannot even have checked to see if Fernandes touched the ball (he did not, hence Cavani miles offside from the goalkick).

    Paul, London

  16. CLOSE!published at 18:39 British Summer Time 18 May 2021

    Man Utd 1-0 Fulham

    Fulham should be level.

Ademola Lookman slips a precise throughball in behind Victor Lindelof into the path of Fabio Carvalho, but side-foots a tame effort into the grasp of David de Gea.

Had to score, just did not look confident enough to take it on and roll it in.

Kiko Casilla is at his best as he keeps out a decent attempt from about 18-yards by Che Adams but moments later flaps at a cross which gifts a chance for Nathan Tella who cannot keep his composure.

When Fulham do get the ball and you see the players o the ball they feel rushed. It's almost like everything is getting away from them. When Manchester United have the ball there's such a calmness about them. You can just see the gulf in quality.

    Stephen Warnock

When Man Utd have the ball it's a training game for them. It's so, so comfortable and Fulham haven't really got anywhere near them. They haven't been able to put any pressure on them at all.
