Fulham are forced into an early change as Harrison Reed pulls up with a problem and cannot continue.

De Gea given the assist which means Fernandes hasn’t touched it. That means VAR should have been checking if cavani was onside when de gea kicked it. He wasn’t - he was a good few yards offside. Oops.

    Mark, Manchester

Andrew Chamberlain: Another poor VAR decision. Makes you wonder what they are watching as Fernandes clearly misses the ball and he was well off when De Gea played the ball!

  6. CLOSE!published at 18:31 British Summer Time 18 May 2021

    Man Utd 1-0 Fulham

Fulham get a rare sighting of the United area as Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa meets a corner with a towering header which David de Gea fumbles, but no visiting player is on hand to convert and the Spaniard can gather at the second attempt.

  7. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 18:31 British Summer Time 18 May 2021

    Southampton 0-0 Leeds

Jeers break out in the stands as Nathan Tella goes down inside the penalty area but referee Peter Bankes points for a goalkick instead of a penalty.

That was a really intelligent move involving Tella who has real pace and looks like he has a great future in front of him.

Re. Ady (18:10) Henderson is the future England and Man Utd number 1. He is top drawer. One not so great game against Liverpool won't change that. It is no coincidence Sheffield Utd's defence was so good for the two years he was there and then non existent after he left, which really was the only major difference. He will make mistakes I'm sure, but he has the mentality of a top keeper, and the physical attributes to go with that. It really is just a question of when he gets to the top rather than if.

There's a carnival atmosphere inside St Mary's. Lots of enthusiastic clapping and cheering. It's seeping onto the pitch where Southampton's players have responded well to having fans back in the ground.

Eteyen: Oh my God! Edinson Cavani....what did I just witness? What a goal

Ideozu-Frank Sampson: Come to think of it now, he's wasted his entire career in France Cavani! Think he regretted not coming earlier

    Big chance for Leeds!

They've had their backs against the wall but they break and it falls invitingly for Stuart Dallas but he drags a first-time attempt wide.

A warning for Southampton who haven't been able to convert their chances into goals.

You can feel the game ebb and flow to the beat of the crowd, the referees get influenced by it, so do the players.

It will have a difference on the outcome of matches.

Josh Earl: WOW. Goal of the season right there. Sensational.

Mr M Harding: Who needs Kane? We’ve got Cavani.

babyboomer: Looks like it could be an assist from David de Gea on what could be his last match at old Trafford. Wonder if he will go up for a corner late on and do an Alisson?

Edinson Cavani is only the third Man Utd player to reach 10+ goals in a single Premier League season while aged 33 or over at the start of that campaign, after Teddy Sheringham in 2000-01 and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2016-17

If you have to wait over 14 months to see a goal, it needs to be worth the wait.

That was. Brilliant. Perfect executive by Cavani. First time he has scored in front of fans at Old Trafford as a Manchester United player.
