GOAL - England 1-0 Northern Irelandpublished at 18:37 British Summer Time 23 October 2021

    Beth Mead (64 mins)

What an introduction, what a goal!

A corner is only half cleared and Beth Mead, on the pitch a matter of seconds, swivels and hooks an acrobatic effort into the far corner from 12 yards. Burns had no chance with that one.

    Northern Ireland's resistance is broken!

Kelsie Burrows is in the book for hauling down Nikita Parris just outside the area.

Here's the Mexican Wave...you know what that means.

The Northern Ireland fans are refusing to take part and are sticking to the bouncy.

Sarah McFadden is down hurt in the area and is receiving treatment. You'll need to drag her off the pitch, she's a warrior.

This is really opening up now.

Ellen White throws herself at a front-post cross but Jackie Burns does well to gather.

    This has been pretty lively!

  13. CLOSE!published at 18:23 British Summer Time 23 October 2021

    England 0-0 Northern Ireland

Oh my word, Northern Ireland nearly take the lead!

Sarah McFadden puts in a thumping tackle, and Rachel Furness finds Lauren Wade down the left.

Caragh Hamilton is charging in at the back post, but the ball takes a touch on the way through and it's inches beyond the winger.

That's NI's best move of the match!

  14. Postpublished at 18:21 British Summer Time 23 October 2021

    England 0-0 Northern Ireland

It's as you were with England camped deep in the Northern Ireland half.

There's some neat play around the edge of the box but Lauren Hemp miscues an effort and it's well wide.

    HT: England 0-0 Northern Ireland

With a resolute first-half showing, the Green and White Army are in good spirits in the far corner.

They're currently having a bit of a dance to Boney M and having a good time as the players return to the pitch.

No matter the occasion, whenever Northern Ireland play England there will inevitably be a mention of David Healy's famous winner at Windsor Park in 2005.

Is the spirit of 2005 in the air tonight? Healy's iconic goal came in the 74th minute, so we'll all be keeping an eye on the clock if we're still goalless by that point.

Their goal has lived a charmed life so far, but it's so far, so good for Kenny Shiels' side.

I think it's pretty obvious who will be the happier manager at half time. For all England's chances, Kenny Sheils' side have held out and while it remains 0-0, they will back themselves to cause a huge upset here at Wembley. England have thrown the kitchen sink at it - surely they will find a breakthrough at some point?

80% possession and 17 shots from England, but just the three on target, which is a disappointing rate.

  20. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:03 British Summer Time 23 October 2021

    There goes the half-time whistle.

    It's goalless...somehow.
