Great turn from Austria right-back Laura Wienroither sees her get away from Lauren Hemp and hit a cross that drifts towards the back post until England goalkeeper Mary Earps comes and claims it.

Much better from England who enjoy a little bit possession until Sarah Zadrazil whips the ball away from the toes of Lauren Hemp.

England are looking a tad unsettled at the moment. The hosts are bang on top.

Good defending from England captain Leah Williamson who heads away at the near post.

Austria are really pressing now and win the ball back straight away with Sarah Zadrazil firing high and wide after a slight mix up in the England back four.

Austria's fans are trying to rally their team after Alessia Russo's smart finish. The home side are trying to respond but England are well organised and good value for their lead. The Lionesses have conceded just five times since Sarina Wiegman took charge 12 months ago.

Some good play down the left from Austria all comes from Millie Bright's under-hit pass.

Verena Hanshaw gets the ball on the touchline and twice takes on Lucy Bronze before whipping in a decent ball to the near stick. The hosts don't really have too many bodies in the box and England clear easily enough.

That's nice from Lauren Hemp who swivels away from her marker but England can't work that ball wide to Beth Mead who is in acres.

Some slack play from England gifts possession to Julia Hickelsberger-Fuller but the Austria midfielder fires over from just inside the penalty area.

Perfect start for England and Alessia Russo.

Ellen White is going to be a big miss after announcing her retirement but Russo makes an immediate impression after coming into the team in her place.

That's her fourth goal in qualifying - and England's 69th goal in eight and a bit games in World Cup qualifying.

What. A. Chance. Lauren Hemp skins Eintracht Frankfurt left-back Verena Hanshaw down the right and the ball eventually falls to Alessia Russo five yards out but the Manchester United forward can't test Manuela Zinsberger with a pretty tame header to double the lead.

"Championees, championees" sing the small scattering of England fans as the game gets under way.

Thirty-four days after that never-to-be-forgotten day at Wembley, the European champions are back in action!

Austria have a fan with a trumpet adding to the atmosphere. There's lots of singing and clapping.

Nice positive start from England who then lose the ball in midfield which allows Austria forward Barbara Dunst to have a pop from miles out.

The sun is out for the third meeting in 10 months between Austria and England.

The temperature is nudging 75F and there is a carnival atmosphere inside the ground as kick-off nears. Austrian flags are being handed out to fans and some supporters are sipping ice cool beers in their seats.

This is Austria's first match since they went out to Germany in the quarter-finals of Euro 2022.

It will be played in front of a sell-out crowd while the game is being broadcast live on television in Austria.

The teams are out. Kick-off is approaching and it's national anthem time.

England boss Sarina Wiegman has been speaking on ITV about her team selection and whether Alessia Russo is now ready to start: "I think and I hope so. She showed in the Euros what she can bring and now she can hopefully show that from the start.

"We have a very nice memories that will stay with us forever but today is all about World Cup qualification and of course Austria wants to quality too."

On the choice of stadium, Wiegman added: "It is a very small stadium. It is open. I do think it is a bit disappointing and in future we will play in bigger stadiums. I think they are ready for the next step."
