That's a wrap for our live text coverage of the Scotland Euros squad announcement and media conference.

Been a pleasure, and it whets the appetite big time for the tournament next month.

Remember to listen to Sportsound at 18:00 for reaction, including an appearance from Steve Clarke himself.

I leave you with the image of former Dunfermline boss Jim Leishman in an Anstruther chippy, which was part of the squad announcement video. Don't ask.

    Iconic.

  3. Don't come home to soon..?published at 16:36 British Summer Time 19 May 2021

The last time Scotland's men went to a finals, the official song beseeched that they 'don't come home too soon'.

Two of the three group games are at Hampden this time, but the sentiment still flies, right?

I'm calling the Leigh Griffiths vote after nearly an hour and a half of voting. As of 16:30 BST, slightly more people think Steve Clarke was WRONG to leave the Celtic striker at home.

Game of opinions, and all that.

  6. Midfield balancepublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 19 May 2021

One of the interesting things that Steve Clarke had to say in his press conference is that he will have to recconsider how the team plays given injuries to Ryan Jack and Kenny McLean.

Thus far under his tenure, Scotland have tended to play 3-4-1-2 of sorts. With two midfielders sitting deeper (usually Jack and Callum McGregor), with another (usually John McGinn) pushed further on.

Scott McTominay - according to Clarke - is going to play in midfield instead of centre-back too.

Whoever Clarke picks to play behind McGinn will fundamentally alter the game plan. All eyes on that first friendly against the Netherlands on 2 June.

  9. Not enough to turn up - McTominaypublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 19 May 2021

Speaking to Sky Sports Man Utd midfielder Scott McTominay: "It's a massive achievement but I feel like we have to go for more we can't just settle at that and look back in ten years and remember turning up at the Euros and doing really well, turning up at the World Cup and doing really well.

"We have to go there and give a good account of ourselves. For me, that's the most important thing."

You can select your Scotland XI for the opening game here. You'll find it at the bottom of that story.

Lots of interesting talking points. I'd start Billy Gilmour, for one.

  14. Brown urges squad to embrace Eurospublished at 15:41 British Summer Time 19 May 2021

Speaking to Sky Sports Aberdeen midfielder (wow that sounds weird) and former Scotland captain Scott Brown has urged those selected to enjoy every moment of playing at a major tournament.

"Go and enjoy it," he said.

"I remember when I was a kid, France 98, the whole nation was watching it. It's a special occasion, go and enjoy every single moment of it.

"I think they deserve it, they've worked extremely hard. A lot of people have doubted them, that they wouldn't get there.

"They've worked together, they've come together and they've got a great manager too. I'm looking forward to it so I'm sure they will be as well."

  15. Should Patterson start?published at 15:35 British Summer Time 19 May 2021

Steve Clarke made it clear in his press conference that every spot in his starting XI for the opening game against the Czech Republic is up for grabs.

With that in mind, should young Nathan Patterson START at right-back ahead of the tried and tested Stephen O'Donnell?

    You know the drill...
