  1. 'Why England have got the platform for success'published at 10:18 British Summer Time 3 July 2021

Rio Ferdinand BBC Sport columnImage source, BBC Sport

The biggest compliment I can give to Gareth Southgate for England's flawless defensive record at Euro 2020 is that it is not down to any individual player.

That's been proven by the fact our personnel at the back has changed in each of our four games, and we've used a different shape for three of them.

First and foremost, he has set up his team to be hard to beat, which is not what the media or most fans wanted to see from them at this tournament.

They've been shouting for a more flamboyant and carefree approach, but Gareth has done it the way he has wanted. It's been extremely successful and it's given us a great foundation to work from.

Poor Harris (9:44). I'm at a mate's wedding too today - but I'm ducking out at 7. Haters gonna hate.

    Tim

Ouch. Will you still be mates after that though?

Richard: The football's the correct way around today. I can watch Denmark and Czech Republic without commentators mentioning England's amazing, heart stopping, backs-to-the-wall 2-0 victory where Ukraine have one shot at goal.

    Ill take that....

  8. 'England favourites to win Euro 2020'published at 09:47 British Summer Time 3 July 2021

According to Simon Gleave, head of sports analysis at data company Nielsen's Gracenote, England are now favourites to win Euro 2020.

"Ukraine are the lowest ranked team to make it this far at Euro 2020 as they are currently ranked 30th in the world by Gracenote's world ranking," said Gleave.

"In our pre-tournament forecast, England were second favourites to win Euro 2020 with an estimated chance of 13.6%.

"Having reached the quarter-finals and with potential home advantage to come later in the competition, this has grown to 26.5%, making England favourites to win Euro 2020."

So there you have it. Football IS coming home - the stats say so!

  20. What now for the 'golden generation'?published at 08:55 British Summer Time 3 July 2021

    Belgium 1-2 Italy

Belgium have been blessed with a squad packed full of hugely talented players. But they have not made the most of it.

They finished third at the 2018 World Cup but did not even get as far as the semis this time. Euro 80, when they lost to West Germany, remains their only final.

Belgium's back three had an average age of 33. Only two of their starting line-up are under the age of 28.

So was this their 'golden generation's' last real chance?
