  1. 'Norwich aren't really doing themselves any favours'published at 15:12 British Summer Time 21 August 2021

    Man City 1-0 Norwich

    Jermaine Beckford
    Ex-Everton striker on BBC One

Norwich are putting themselves in so many predicaments and it's their own problem and fault!

They're causing themselves so many issues trying to play it out from the back and City are just setting traps, they're closing them down really well.

Norwich aren't really doing themselves any favours.

    Man City 1-0 Norwich

10 minutes gone and I've just taken a peek at the live win probability.

It doesn't make for pleasurable viewing for Norwich as Man City have a 95% chance of winning the game from this position.

  3. Postpublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 21 August 2021

    Leeds 0-0 Everton

Richarlison seems OK but it's another Brazilian asking some questions, as Raphinha cuts on to his left foot for Leeds and forces Jordan Pickford to make a save from outside the box - it's low down and straight at the England stopper, one to warm the gloves.

Former Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Norwich have managed to string a few passes together, they needed to, there's no point lumping it long. Todd Cantwell not surprisingly has been one of the players trying to get up the pitch and get on the ball.

Even saying that though, it's still not been in the opposition half so far.

  5. CLOSE!published at 15:10 British Summer Time 21 August 2021

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Brentford

But Brentford come close themselves as striker Ivan Toney, who I think is in a lot of your fantasy teams, drills narrowly wide from range.

  6. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 21 August 2021

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Brentford

Palace nearly break the deadlock at Selhurst Park as Conor Gallagher nearly breaks the crossbar, fed through on goal but the on-loan Chelsea man's effort rattles the crossbar.

    Leeds 0-0 Everton

Patrick Bamford with a sniff for Leeds, but it's well read by Michael Keane inside the box. A slight concern for Everton as Richarlison goes down during a challenge though, he's trying to walk off a knock to the knee. Hobbling slightly, the Toffees forward.

I don't know if he knew anything about that?! Almost on the volley, at pace - that's definitely an own goal.

  9. CLOSE!published at 15:06 British Summer Time 21 August 2021

    Aston Villa 0-0 Newcastle

    What a chance that is!

Steve Bruce's side will look to get Callum Wilson in behind the Villa defence at every opportunity and the Newcastle forward goes through one-on-one early on, shrugging off Tyrone Mings en route, but then can only curl his effort wide of the goal with goalkeeper Emi Martinez rushing out.

    Must score from there, surely.

  10. goal

GOAL - Man City 1-0 Norwichpublished at 15:06 British Summer Time 21 August 2021

Tim Krul own goal (6 mins)

    Already.

It's been all City and the champions deservedly take an early lead.

Ferran Torres picks out the run of Gabriel Jesus, who volleys a cross into the box.

Norwich skipper Grant Hanley attempts to clear but can only hit his goalkeeper Tim Krul and the ball ends up in the back of the net.

A huge task got ever huger for Norwich.

    Man City 0-0 Norwich

Twice in the opening five minutes Norwich have now tried playing the ball out from inside their own area and given the ball away.

    Just get rid of it!

  12. Postpublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 21 August 2021

    Man City 0-0 Norwich

Norwich are attempting to play out from the back.

I'm getting nervous for them already, Ben Gibson has just plonked the ball out of play near the corner flag.

  13. Postpublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 21 August 2021

    Leeds 0-0 Everton

Lively start at Elland Road. Isn't it always?!

First Abdoulaye Doucoure tries his luck from outside the box, sending an effort wide of the post, before the hosts charge into the Everton box at the other end. That attack comes to nothing.

  14. Postpublished at 15:02 British Summer Time 21 August 2021

    Man City 0-0 Norwich

Like Joe Hart's Torino and Wayne Rooney's Derby, do we ever stop calling him 'The £100m man' Jack Grealish?

  15. Postpublished at 15:02 British Summer Time 21 August 2021

    Aston Villa 0-0 Newcastle

Aston Villa have invested the Grealish money shrewdly, but do have a few injury concerns with Ollie Watkins among those missing out today. What impact will Ashley Young's return have? He's at left-back this afternoon.

    Man City 0-0 Norwich

    Pat Nevin

This will be a good game because Norwich will try and be as positive as possible. By the way Pep Guardiola has got Gabriel Jesus on the right-wing, that's not his favourite position.

  20. 'Good move for Willock'published at 14:54 British Summer Time 21 August 2021

Aston Villa v Newcastle (15:00 BST)

    Jermaine Beckford
Ex-Everton striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think it's a good move for Joe Willock, it's given him a chance to break away from his home and from London. It gives you an opportunity to really cut ties and to knuckle down and focus on your football.

Steve Bruce has done a good job, they finished a lot higher up than a lot of us thought they would last season.
