They toy with Arsenal, spreading the ball wide left for Reece James to send over a cross that Romelu Lukaku heads over.

That is the difference, that is why you pay all that money for a centre forward. Three touches and Lukaku has scored.

The desire from Lukaku to get in on the end of that cross from James. He left Pablo Mari in the dirt.

How will Arsenal respond to that? They'd actually begun the game OK. But they'll be brittle. And Chelsea will want nothing more than to take advantage.

That finish was Lukaku's first real contribution to the game. But that's what he does. He just scores goals.

Nicolas Pepe is capable of so much more than he has shown yet in an Arsenal shirt. He gives a little glimpse of this by charging through a couple of tackles in a move that ultimately fizzles out. Gets the home fans going, though.

Chelsea are going to dominate possession and Arsenal will have to stay patient but with their pace up front they can cause Chelsea problems.

The home side are most dangerous down the left via the Kieran Tierney-Bukayo Saka combination. The two combine but the former's cross is slammed away.

The Gunners come again, though, and win a corner.

It's all through Jorginho. He tries to chip a ball to get Romelu Lukaku in on goal, but puts a bit too much on it.

Arsenal press high, but Chelsea are more than capable of playing through it. A combination of Edouard Mendy and Cesar Azpilicueta gets the Blues away from danger.

This is what the first home game of a season is all about. Fans in short sleeves, cheering their side on in the sun.

Jorginho has already set about pulling strings. The away side are spending a bit of time in the Arsenal half, probing for an opening.

Xhaka is taken off to the sidelines for a bit of treatment but it looks like he'll be OK.

Good news for the Gunners. Xhaka hasn't always been popular here, but they need leaders right now.

That is what you want, a good start gets the fans going.

It is a good ball from Xhaka to Saka, Saka does well and Smith-Rowe struck it well but its a comfortable save from Mendy.

This game always has a bit of spice. But with fans back and much at stake, there's a promise of a fierce old ding-dong.
