  1. 'The difference is in the box'published at 17:23 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

    FT: Watford 0-2 Wolves

    Watford

Watford manager Xisco Munoz to BBC Sport: "I think in the first half it was a very good level but after the goal we were a little down. We need to continue working hard.

"The difference in the Premier League is in the box. If you create chances and don't score and they have chances and score..."

On the own goal: "This is football. When you have the ball in your box, these things happen.

"It's important everyone keeps going and we have a very important game against Norwich."

  2. 'It was almost perfect'published at 17:22 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

    FT: Man Utd 4-1 Newcastle

    Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes tells Sky Sports: "It was almost perfect if we did not concede. We are really happy and the performance in general was really good.

"Newcastle are really organised, defend well but we moved the ball quick and waited for the right moment to hit them.

"It is something I am working on and today I got the chance and scored.

"Everyone knows what Cristiano Ronaldo brought for the club and we are really happy to have him. The most important, as he will say, is the result for the team. Good players can always play well together.

"We arrived at the end (of last season) with some mistakes but did really well. There has been an improvement in the club and now it is time to take the next step."

  3. 'Man Utd have goalscorers, without Wilson Newcastle don't'published at 17:21 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Newcastle did well, had a game plan and frustrated Man Utd. It worked until just before half time. They got themselves back into the game but at 2-1 you though 'can they do it again?'. They had a go but the third goes in and it's game over. Man Utd have goalscorers, without Wilson Newcastle don't.

  4. 'That is the Premier League'published at 17:21 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

    FT: Brentford 0-1 Brighton

    Brentford

Brentford boss Thomas Frank, speaking to BBC Sport: "I think it was a completely even game between two sides that wanted to get on top. Until the 75th minute, I thought we were better or at least had more dangerous situations. In the last 15, we were more under pressure. Defensively we set high standards. Just four shots away. Offensively, in spells we were good but we need to be better. We had chances to score. One moment decides the game and that is the Premier League.

"It is football. We need to score some of these chances. But overall a solid performance. We could have edged it.

"It is looking positive. We just need to continue working. We need to bounce back. It is all about that. We need to look into the performance. We played a good Brighton side and were unlucky."

  6. 'A hard-fought win'published at 17:20 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

    FT: Brentford 0-1 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Graham Potter, speaking to BBC Sport: "I am really pleased for the boys and supporters. It was a hard-fought match. You see the belief in what Brentford are doing. First-half they were the better team and we had to stick in. Second half, we grew into the game and it is great to get the finish at the end. Away wins are always terrific

"It is not easy to control it here but the players did it well. We are delighted with the clean sheet and to nick the win."

On Leandro Trossard: "He was fantastic today. A real mature performance."

  7. 'I loved every minute of debut'published at 17:19 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

    FT: Arsenal 1-0 Norwich

    Arsenal

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale speaking to Sky Sports: "It was a great afternoon not just for me but for the team and the fans. It was a tough start but today we showed great character and great resilience. I loved every minute of it today. The fans were amazing today and never stopped singing and it showed. It's been a great day all-round.

"We knew that every game is difficult and we knew that we needed to win. We've played two promoted teams and two of the best teams in the league and we wanted more points but we haven't, but hopefully there are many more days like today.

"I signed to come into the team whenever that might have been. I've got to carry on working on the training pitch and keep the competition with Bernd [Leno] and hopefully I can stay in the team and keep helping out."

  8. 'The most important thing was to play with pride'published at 17:18 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

    FT: Arsenal 1-0 Norwich

    Arsenal

Arsenal goalscorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang tells BBC Sport: "I'm just really happy. The first three points of the season. It was tough weeks so we had to make sure we won this game in front of our fans. The most important thing today was to play with pride and that's what we did."

On Arsenal's start to the season: "It was really hard. When you lose games as players we are the first to be touched inside. We had 10 days to prepare ourselves and to change things and this is what we did. Today we made sure we won this game and took three points."

On getting their first points of the season: "Overall we played well. We had a lot of chances. We have to be a bit more clinical in front of goal but everyone gave everything on the pitch."

  9. 'We created many chances'published at 17:17 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

    FT: Leicester 0-1 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola to Sky Sports: "Excellent. We played really well from the first minute. After the international break, you always have doubts. We were a high level again for three weeks in a row. We had many chances and could have scored more goals. This is a step we still need to take.

"What can I say? The keeper is the best player of the Leicester team because we did many, many good things. You have to be patient. They are so dangerous when they attack outside so it's difficult to control them but we did well.

"They put substitutions on and they drop a little bit to get the ball so we knew it, but we played really well.

"We score the last 11 goals from nine different players. It's the only way to sustain our level. [Bernardo Silva] is back in the best form and mentality. He is an exceptional player and we know it.

"Of course I'm happy with the three points. Our performance was outstanding. Leicester, like the last years, have always been fighting until the end. I'm very pleased. If you are able to score or shoot, I don't know how many, it is because you are doing very good things. Kasper Schmeichel is an incredible keeper and saves these goals."

  10. 'Really proud of the team'published at 17:15 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

    FT: Leicester 0-1 Man City

    Leicester City

More from Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers to BBC Sport: "The concentration is so high and it has to be. Technically they really test you but I'm really proud of the team. We played some fantastic football to stay in the game. They got that bit of luck you sometimes need to win games to get the goal.

"There was pressure in and around our box. The players made blocks and that's what you have to do. You have to dig in. We showed good patience in the build up. I thought we played through the pressure. We couldn't find that last pass.

"I thought we rushed it in the first half. We were in the game right until the very end. Okay, we've not taken anything from the game but we have lots of positives from it."

Managing Jannik Vestergaard and Jonny Evans? "Yes. Both of those players. Jannik Vestergaard, you could see there was a little bit of tiredness in the legs starting to kick in. But I thought he was excellent. Jonny Evans got an important 30 minutes. They will be important for us."

  11. Postpublished at 17:14 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

    FT: Man Utd 4-1 Newcastle

    Newcastle United

Newcastle boss Steve Bruce tells Sky Sports: "We had some really good opportunities but the difficult is that we gave poor goals away. It was our Achilles heel today.

"That is a the goalscoring instinct for a centre forward, Cristiano Ronaldo was on the end of it and it was a tap-in. If there is a genuine superstar in among us, it is him."

  12. 'We believe more'published at 17:13 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

    FT: Brentford 0-1 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton midfielder Leandro Trossard: "We knew it would be a tough game. They have not lost until now. It was a brilliant performance from us. We kept believing. We didn't create many chances but knew even in the last minute you can score a goal. I felt like there was space to turn and then it is just intuition. It went perfectly. I am so happy to help the team win an away game.

"Our third season with the gaffer. Everyone knows how to play and we know each other better. We believe more."

  13. 'We deserved something'published at 17:11 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

    FT: Leicester 0-1 Man City

    Leicester City

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers: "I thought we deserved something from the game. You have to stay in the game against a team of that quality but I thought we were excellent and created a lot of chances.

"We were unfortunate with their goal but apart from that I was proud of the team. They can take you into ages you don't want to go into but our players coped well. With a better final ball and a bit more luck, we might have got that goal.

"You know you have to defend well. You could argue we had the best chance with Harvey Barnes in the first half but they defended it well. You have to have the courage as a team to make blocks and defend the goal and I thought we did that well.

"Our ambition is always there. The quality of their team means they will have more of the ball than you so it means when you get your opportunity, you have to be more clinical. I thought first half we were looking for Jamie Vardy too early. Too many times we rushed the pass when it wasn't on but we were always ambition.

"I thought Jannik Vestergaard was excellent. He tired towards the end which was expected given his lack of training time. It was good to get that game time for Jonny Evans and those two will be important for us this season."

  14. 'We did many good things'published at 17:08 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

    FT: Leicester 0-1 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola to BBC Sport: "It is a difficult place to come and we know that. Leicester make that step forward to be in the top of the league. We did very many good things.

"We did really well, the process we found and we let them run a lot. We know how dangerous Jamie Vardy and also Harvey Barnes are in transition. The players were able to be focused and to concentrate.

"Kasper Schmeicel is a really top keeper so it sometimes happens. The good thing is the amount of chances we create. This is a good thing. Of course, we would have loved to score more goals. We deserve it.

"The last 11 goals I think were scored by nine different players. We don't have a real striker so we do it as a team."

    FT: Leicester 0-1 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City goalscorer Bernardo Silva: "They also had their chances. It's a very tough team to play against. Leicester, for me, are one of the best teams in the league. We should have scored a little bit earlier in the first half but we got the three points and in a very tough place to play. We are very happy with the win.

"I always try to do my best to help the team and today I was able to with a goal so I'm very, very happy with that.

"We know how good they are on the ball. We know how this team plays. We suffered against them in the Community Shield. We tried to stop them on the counter-attacks. Our goalkeeper was very good today for us too. Three points and now we move on."

On Jack Grealish's 100th Premier League appearance: "A quality player and a very nice guy. He is one more to help the team. Hopefully we can help him to progress, score more goals and get more assists. A very, very good player."
