Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani, speaking to Sky Sports:

On Harvey Elliott's injury: "I wish the boy well. This is football. It's accidental. Personally I feel sorry for the boy. The injury is difficult for him. We cannot control that kind of injury. It was accidental but I am honestly sorry for the player."

On Leeds' form: "The fans support all the time this team. We have a very special stadium. Next time we need to get more results. We have had a tough start. I'm still confident and positive we can start our season on Friday at Newcastle.

"We have plenty of time to go back to where we were last year. I think the club is going in the right direction to establishing itself in Premier League.

"The plan is to play in bigger stadiums on European nights. There is a lot of trust amongst ourselves."

Liverpool

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk tells Sky Sports: "First and foremost, all our thoughts and prayers go to Harvey Elliott. Hopefully he recovers quickly and good as possible. We have no idea what the diagnosis is at the moment but it looked bad.

"It was a fantastic win here, an intense game, I enjoyed the atmosphere because you didn't experience it for a while. Two feelings are there.

"From the moment it happened, you saw Mohamed Salah shouting to the side. You look at the reaction of Harvey and you know it is really serious. the whole treatment period you are standing still and are hoping for the best. It is difficult, for them as well, but we had to deal with it in the best possible way.

"It is definitely satisfying, everyone knew it would be an intense, hard game, their fans pushing them so we had to be brave and ready for the battle and embrace the atmosphere. Winning 3-0 and a clean sheet is good to build on.

"We were brave, we knew we would be in one v one situations ad knew we had to run back on the counter.

"It is a perfect start to the week, something to be very happy about but still a sad feeling for Harvey. We will see what the outcome then pray and hope the best for him.

"I have experience with all the staff, players and fans that they have your back and I am 100% sure we will be there for hum. Our club Liverpool will be there for him no matter what."

Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, speaking to Sky Sports about Mohamed Salah scoring 100 Premier League goals: "Mo's record is crazy.

"He is still hungry and I don't know how many records he can break.

"Since he joined us he has been the perfect player - a top class player."

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp tells BBC MOTD: "Harvey Elliott is in hospital, a bad ankle injury for sure. It looked like it was dislocated, the medical department put it back. Massive pain, shock for him, for us and we don't know more. We have to wait.

"I couldn't care less (if it was a red card), it is not my business. It is a serious injury, definitely for an 18-year-old boy. The red card is not important. Two or three weeks we can play on, Harvey will not.

"We played a really good game until Harvey had to go, the whole team was shocked and we lost rhythm. That is normal, human. We played as good as we can against Leeds. You have to be ready for brutal intensity. The crowd was there and an exciting football game with us as the deserved winner.

"I spoke to the boys afterwards, we have to speak a little bit about the football but Harvey overshadows it. I like intense football so I probably liked the game.

"Fabinho is an incredible player with the challenges he won, we did well in many departments. Sadio Mane played an exceptional game, the crowd wanted to make him annoyed, he stayed calm and scored the goal."

Jurgen Klopp was very emotional during that interview with Sky Sports. He had to take a breather for a few seconds to compose himself.

"Do I want such a young boy to have this experience in his career? No. We will play football without him, but we will wait for him as well because he is a top player.

"I saw the situation. I could see his foot was not in the right place. That is why we were all shocked."

On speaking at length with the fourth official: "I'm not sure this is the right moment to speak about these sort of things."

Leeds United midfielder Stuart Dallas, speaking to Sky Sports: "First and foremost our thoughts go to Harvey Elliott. It's a horrible injury and we hope he gets back on the pitch as soon as possible.

"As for the game, the crowd gave us a lift but Liverpool made it really difficult for us. You are not going to get too many chances. Unfortunately we couldn't take any of them. We want to make it as difficult as possible for teams coming to Elland Road.

"A 3-0 defeat is never good. We have got to be better than that and we're really, really disappointed.

"It's easy for people to say the second season [in the Premier League] is difficult. We've got two points from four games so it's easy for people to say that."

Leeds United

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa tells BBC MOTD: "We were overcome in nearly all aspects in the game. We did not impose ourselves and the result was fair.

"When he had the ball and lost it, it was difficult for us not to concede danger. In our balls to attack they would have deserved to generate chances of more danger. That is the explanation of what we saw on the pitch, an opponent more superior to us.

"The way they planned to play, it allowed their forwards to shine. My plans did not have the same effect. The type of game did not allow our forwards to be dangerous."

On Harvey Elliott injury: "I regret dearly what happened, I wish it did not happen. For that to happen to any player is saddening. For a young player playing at a high level even more. I am sure my player did not have the intention to harm him in any way. Perhaps what happened after he recovered the ball caused the injury. The tackle was clear but clearly the acceleration at how our player moved caused it. In no way did he have provoke any harm to the opponent."

Leeds United

Leeds striker Patrick Bamford on BBC Radio 5 Live: "They had a fair few chances, but we had some too. They deserved to win and we were careless today with the ball. Against a team like that, you get punished.

"We haven't played up to our potential in the first four games, but we'll keep working hard. We've got to look to the next game."

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa, speaking to Sky Sports: "We were not in charge very often in the game. They were superior to us in all aspects. I don't know why. I need to know what reasons are. When we lost the ball they created danger. Of course it worries me that we lost 3-0."

On the red card: "I regret dearly the opponent was injured and I'm 100% certain our player did not have a bad intention. I wish it had not happened."

The Athletic

The Premier League have clarified to The Athletic that Leeds defender Pascal Strujik was sent off due to “the intensity and endangerment of Harvey Elliott”.

Liverpool were worthy winners. Leeds give you blood, sweat and tears, and that is what you want. That final third quality Liverpool have was too much; it could have been four or five.

Liverpool got lucky early on; Leeds created two very good chances. They weathered that storm, and then the quality showed. Liverpool were great out of possession. Proper title contenders, these are.
