Skully: Every single player in Liverpool's starting XI is better than every single player in Leeds' XI. Going to be a massacre.

James Francis: Liverpool’s bench today highlights how far behind their squad is compared to City, Utd and Chelsea.

Gary Neville is here for Sky and has completed his pitch-side pre-match duties (including a little bit filmed selfie style on his phone with a very animated Geoff Shreeves). The stewards have just walked Neville up through the stand and to the commentary gantry above us in the press area.

Not sure they'd have done that if the West Stand was full of home fans. Might have made for an interesting walk for the ex-Manchester United defender.

Leeds could fail to win any of their first four top-flight matches in a season for the first time since 1958-59.

They could also equal their longest winless run in the league under Marcelo Bielsa.

What is it about this fixture?

Last season's meeting at Elland Road was played amidst the fallout of the attempted European Super League breakaway.

Today the two sides were looking like going head-to-head in one of the world's finest leagues without some of the world's finest players because some of the world's footballing authorities had clashed.

The eventual release of the Brazilian players in the respective squads is more than the cliched club v country issue. Listening to Marcelo Bielsa, he says it is symptomatic of a root cause of what is the real problem. Too many games and too much money for an industry killing its own product.

Leeds v Liverpool has the makings of a superb contest. Highly skilled exponents of the game capable of elite performance.

But for how long, Bielsa warns? He says the overloaded club and international calendar, whilst preserving "the commercial part of football", means "the game goes unprotected".

Liverpool have lost just one of their last nine away league games against Leeds (W5 D3), beaten 4-3 in November 2000 with Mark Viduka netting all four goals for the Whites.

One of the all-time great Premier League games. Was it really 21 years ago??

Liverpool start this as favourites. They're unbeaten so far this season and have looked back close to their ruthless best. Last time they were here, they didn't have Virgil van Dijk at the back, which perhaps contributed to them conceding a late equaliser to a Leeds side that had battered at the door for much of the second half after falling behind.

Leeds could do with a win. Two draws have followed that mauling at Manchester United in the opening game. One of those - the 2-2 with Everton - came complete with a cracking atmosphere.

Leeds fans probably arrive here with hope more than belief, although the club is doing its best to convince them...

Leeds have stuttered a little bit so far this season, but I think that's all it is. I don't see them struggling, put it that way.

There are lots of positives about the way Marcelo Bielsa's side play but they are still easy to get at, which is something I thought they would change.

That hasn't happened, which is why I am going with Liverpool. The Reds will get plenty of opportunities in front of goal.

    Prediction: 1-2

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa makes one change from the side that drew 1-1 at Burnley before the international break. That sees left-back Junior Firpo come back into the side after missing the game at Turf Moor following a positive Covid-19 test. He replaces centre-back Pascal Struijk, which will see the Whites switch back to a back four, with Stuart Dallas moved back in centre midfield.

Raphinha starts after Fifa lifted the ban on Brazilian players featuring this weekend.

New £25m signing Dan James in on the bench, along with Mateusz Klich, who also returned a positive Covid test to miss the Burnley game.

Leeds: Meslier, Ayling, Junior Firpo, Llorente, Cooper, Phillips, Dallas, Rodrigo, Raphinha, Harrison, Bamford.

Subs: Klaesson, Roberts, James, Struijk, Cresswell, Summerville, Klich, McCarron, Shackleton.

There are two changes for Liverpool from the 1-1 home draw with Chelsea. One is enforced and sees Diogo Jota start in attack in place of the injured Roberto Firmino.

The other sees Thiago replace Jordan Henderson in midfield.

Like Raphinha for Leeds, Brazilians Fabinho and Alisson both play for the Reds.

James Milner returns to the club at which he begun his career and is on the bench.

Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Robertson, Van Dijk, Matip, Fabinho, Thiago, Elliott, Mane, Jota, Salah.

Subs: Kelleher, Konate, Milner, Keita, Gomez, Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jones, Tsimikas.

Elland Road is no stranger to the spectacular when Liverpool are in town. The 1960s and 70s featured some right old tussles, we had a 4-5 here in 1991 and then there was Tony Yeboah's thunderbolt and Mark Viduka's four-goal one-man demolition job.

Something similar to that wouldn't go amiss, especially as it's the day's only Premier League game.

We will have some Brazilian magic on show in Raphinha, Alisson and Fabinho after Fifa relented on an initial ban imposed on them.

It's mild and overcast and the pitch looks in fantastic nick. All set up for a belter.
