  7. 'We have to accept we weren't at our level'published at 15:03 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

    FT: Chelsea 0-1 Man City

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “In general we were active but in a very deep zone, not where we wanted to be.

“You cannot go into a game like this and expect the result to be on our side. We just have to accept we weren’t at our level, but City played a part in this. Making you underperform is also a kind of performance.”

Leicester have got more then enough in their locker and it's still early in the season. They've got some very good footballers and a great manager.

James Maddison is a top player and Rodgers knows him better than we do, he's protecting him like a good manager and giving him some time but I do think he needs more game time.

Very early double save from Karl Darlow to deny Emmanuel Dennis twice. The Watford forward charges in and is denied by Darlow from a tight angle. He thinks there might be an empty net to shoot into but Darlow makes himself big again.

Be interesting to see how England besties Kalvin Phillips and Declan Rice get on today. So effective for the Three Lions in the summer and since, they're tasked with snuffing out the danger of each others' respective sides. No yards given.

As billed, it's a bit lively here.

  13. Leeds' woespublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

Leeds v West Ham (15:00 BST)

Leeds have failed to win any of their opening five top-flight fixtures for the first time since 1946. They last started this slowly in any division in 1985.

It's the first time Leeds have gone five league games without a victory under Marcelo Bielsa.

They can equal their longest winless run from the beginning of a league campaign: six matches in the 1935-36 top flight and again in the second tier in 1951-52.

Leeds have faced an unrivalled 35 shots on target in the Premier League side this season.

  14. 'The way we played was so good'published at 14:59 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

    FT: Chelsea 0-1 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “Today we played for each other, ran for each other and passed the ball for each other. Now I’m watching the Ryder Cup and I’m seeing how they play for each other. That is nice when you play football too. It’s just three points of course, but the way we played was so good.

“Sometimes we believe we need a proper striker to finish, but the important thing is the way we play. The most important thing is doing it as a team and as a unit. It’s like last season. Sergio [Aguero] was injured all year and we won the Premier League.

“It’s a good way to start this fascinating week that we have ahead of us.”

Leeds v West Ham (15:00 BST)

West Ham are unbeaten in five Premier League away matches since a 3-2 defeat at Newcastle in April (W3, D2).

They can win three consecutive league matches against Leeds for the first time since a run of four from 1948 to 1949 in the second tier.

Said Benrahma has been directly involved in five goals in as many Premier League appearances this season, scoring three and setting up two.

  16. Watford have the edgepublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

    Watford v Newcastle (15:00 BST)

Newcastle have won just one of the past 10 meetings in all competitions (D2, L7).

The Magpies have never won a top-flight match at Vicarage Road (D5, L5).

Watford have earned 19 Premier League points against Newcastle, more than against any other team.

  17. 'I just can't see the consistency'published at 14:57 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

FT: Man Utd 0-1 Aston Villa

    Manchester United

Man Utd manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tells Match of the Day: "You can take it when it's a good goal conceded against you, but that's offside. He's touched David as he heads the ball. How that's a goal and Leicester have not got their goals, I just can't see the consistency and that's clearly offside."

On the missed penalty: "I've not seen it because it ended up with nothing anyway so I can't comment on that one but unfortunately we missed the chance to get a point."

On the delay before the penalty and Villa players surrounding Fernandes:"I wasn't going to mention it but it's not right that they do that. I guess that should be a yellow card for someone but they have achieved what they wanted.

"We were very aggressive, very good on transition, got forward quickly but the final shot, final pass and final decision wasn't always the best one. 20 of the 30 attempts were blocked."

On Man Utd's current form going into Champions League: "Big game. Champions League. We need to pick up points which is a position these boys have been in before. I know they will fight for each other and fight for the shirt and we will be ready for that one."

  18. Lawro's predictionpublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

    Watford v Newcastle (15:00 BST)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

Watford's results have been pretty up and down so far but they have six points from their first five games, which they will be satisfied with.

Newcastle, meanwhile, are one of five top-flight teams without a win - and their performances have not been great either. I haven't seen anything that suggests they are about to start climbing the table.

    Prediction: 1-1
