Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, speaking to BT Sport: “We lost the game and City deserved to win. Until the goal we were very strong in the last 20 metres of the field, but only there unfortunately. Everywhere else we were not good enough to relieve pressure and to hurt them.

“The performance was not complex enough. Overall, simply, we were not at our best level. After the goal it felt a little bit like the belief in winning was bigger than the fear of losing, I don’t know why. We tried to push and get the crowd behind us. It was a very emotional game but never on our highest level.

“We conceded a goal from a set play. Even if we wanted to go for long balls for Romelu [Lukaku] it was not precise enough. I didn’t really feel the belief that we could escape the short balls. It was doubtful and it felt like we had something to lose. We lacked a little bit of freshness also.”

Manchester United

Man Utd manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: "Obviously disappointed because the goal is offside. It's unfortunate to have that decision against you."

On Bruno Fernandes' missed penalty: "First of all the way they get round the penalty spot, get round Bruno and that, that's not to my liking. Bruno is usually very good in those positions and unfortunately he missed this one."

On if Villa players influenced the penalty miss: "It doesn't get in Bruno's head. He's strong mentally and he'll step forward again. The decision (on who takes penalties) is made before the game."

On three defeats in last four games in league and cup: "When you lose games it's a concern of course it is."

On Shaw and Maguire's injuries: "At the moment they don't look ok for Wednesday but let's see."

Leeds are yet to win this season and they don't seem to carry the same threat going forward as they did last season.

They are still conceding plenty of goals, though - 12 in five league games so far, and at least one in every match.

I still think they will come good sooner rather than later though. West Ham only lost to Manchester United in very strange circumstances last time out, but I fancy Leeds to edge this one.

Prediction: 2-1

Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, speaking to BT Sport: “Today the guys were outstanding. At this stadium and against this opponent, to do what we have done makes me so proud.

“We came here and did our game. Sometimes you can’t do it because the opponent is better. We were encouraged to press high and they could not make the build-up.”

On Gabriel Jesus: “Gabriel always gives everything. You cannot say anything to him. Every single game he runs for his team-mates. Having these types of players makes me so happy."

On becoming City's most successful manager in terms of wins: “I’m so proud. We’ve done it at Stamford Bridge at the last Champions League winner. We’ve been magnificent together. It makes me proud, a little bit for myself but especially for the club.”

The stats are all against Norwich.

They have lost their opening five league fixtures of a season for the first time in their history.

There have been only two longer losing streaks from the beginning of a Premier League campaign - seven games, by Portsmouth in 2009 and 10 by Crystal Palace in 2017-18.

Daniel Farke has also become the first manager to lose 15 consecutive matches in the English top flight.

They remain without a point this season but will today be the day they turn things around?

Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Dean Smith tells Match of the Day: "I thought we deserved the win today. We were aggressive and brave and you have to be coming here."

On the penalty: "I've seen it back. I thought it was a very harsh penalty. I'm not sure where is is supposed to put his arms when it flashes across. For me, justice was done when he missed it."

On the goal: "We caused them problems from set pieces all game but the biggest thing for me is the bravery we showed coming here and going toe-to-toe with them."

On if today was a statement win: "I've not been big on making excuses, that's not my thing. But we have had reasons and not being able to field our best players for the first start of the games. Now we have a healthier squad that are competing with each other and it showed today."

Leicester are unbeaten in 10 home league games against Burnley since a 1-0 defeat in the Championship in November 2007 (W6, D4).

Burnley are one short of 100 top-flight goals against Leicester.

Newcastle are yet to win a match in any competition in 2021-22.

They are winless after their opening five Premier League fixtures for the fourth time in seven seasons.

This is the worst start Steve Bruce has made to a Premier League campaign in 14 seasons as a manager in the division.

Aston Villa

Aston Villa goalscorer Kourtney Hause tells Match of the Day: "When they gave the penalty I was devastated and fuming with myself. Looking back I didn't make myself any bigger. I've tried to bring my arms in so when Bruno blazed it over the bar I was relieved. I think it was justice in the end because I don't think it was a penalty.

"The rules are the rules. All we can do as players is play the game and play it well and whatever decision the referees and VAR want to give we have to get on with it."

"We had the better chances. We haven't really had to defend too tough as a team but we've come away with the three points and that's all that matters. We're happy."

On his goal: "As soon as it touched my head I knew it was in and hearing the fans scream topped it off."

Chelsea

Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “We’re disappointed with the result. It was not our best performance. Especially in the first half it was hard to get out. We didn’t create chances and lost the ball too easily. After the goal we had a good reaction, but it was not enough to get something from the game.

“They were at their best level. We couldn’t keep the ball as we like to do. We made so many mistakes, ones that we normally don’t make. We tried to stay in the game. We lost the game after a short corner, which is disappointing.

“We are two great teams with great players and great ambition. Every game is different and every competition is different. We lost our chance to get three important points. Now we have to analyse what we didn’t do that well and move on to the next game. We didn’t lose the league today. If we’d have won we wouldn’t have won the league today either.”

Sometimes you can win a game just by being organised and that is exactly what Villa did and they stuck to their game plan.

It was a great goal too for Kourtney Hause.

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith on his side's first win at Old Trafford since 2009: "I think Gabby [Agbonlahor] scored the winner that day. It's been a long time coming. Our performance levels have been good the last couple of times we've been here.

"What that does is it gives an awful lot of belief to the players now. Went toe-to-toe with Chelsea, and we came here and went toe-to-toe. They probably had a lot more chances than us but they were smaller chances and we had some really big chances and deserved the win.

"We caused them problems from set-pieces and we get that goal and want to see the game out then but inevitable when we play Man Utd we give a penalty away. Extremely harsh, I'm not sure where he's meant to put his arm and probably justice was done. They'll enjoy that one and certainly our fans will because it's a long time coming."

Neil: Anyone trying to defend Ole as the man to restore the glory days to United is deluded. He is completely out of his depth.

JB: I think the United board need to really question Ole's role now. McFred had never and will never work. £73 mil for a right winger to play only on the left and a solid CM left forever on the bench. If Ole won't mix things up, United need someone who will.

Alan: Terrible performance (again) from Utd. Lose in the week and Ole has to go. It's embarrassing given the quality of players at his disposal
