    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

On Chelsea: I think Thomas Tuchel's done a fantastic job since he's been there. When you look at [Antonio] Rudiger, [Marcos] Alonso and [Cesar] Azpilicueta, I think some of those players were probably on their way out.

They definitely weren't as sharp as they are now, he's tightened them up and they're now playing some good entertaining football.

If they can keep [Romelu] Lukaku fit then I'm not sure anyone can match them this year.

Chelsea have only conceded one goal in five Premier League games so far this season - a penalty in their 1-1 draw at Liverpool, the only game where they've dropped points.

Defending champions Manchester City have 10 points from five games after last Saturday's 0-0 draw at home to Southampton. But they scored six in each midweek game either side of that - against RB Leipzig in the Champions League and Wycombe in the Carabao Cup.

Which way will this go? Hit thumbs up for Chelsea, thumbs down for City.

  13. More goals to come for Man Utd?published at 12:16 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

Man Utd v Aston Villa (12:30 BST)

As well as being one of only three Premier League sides who remain unbeaten this season alongside Liverpool and Chelsea, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have scored more than any other side in the league so far.

With an expected goals total of eight, the Red Devils are also overperforming their xG more than any other side this season (5 goals more).

Slate grey sky over Old Trafford as a huge roar erupts around the ground to welcome Manchester United's players for their pre-match warm-up.

This is a big game for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men.

Having made an early exit from the Carabao Cup in midweek, they want to return to winning ways before Villarreal's visit in the Champions League next Wednesday in what is a repeat of last season's Europa League final.

Villa have won just one of their past 45 Premier League games against Manchester United and arrive at Old Trafford seeking a first away point this season.

  16. Guardiola on brink of another recordpublished at 12:02 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

Chelsea v Man City (12:30 BST)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

Pep Guardiola says it will be "an honour" when he gets the win he needs to become the most successful manager in Manchester City's history.

The Spanish coach is level with legendary City boss Les McDowall on 220 victories.

McDowall was City manager for 592 games and Guardiola will only be taking charge for the 303rd time - 37 behind another famous club figure Joe Mercer - when his side face Chelsea on Saturday.

"I cannot deny it will be an honour," said Guardiola, 50. "Hopefully we do it sooner rather than later."

Guardiola has already won more trophies than any other manager in the club's history.

His eight major honours are twice the number won by Mercer, who is next on the list. McDowall, who was manager from 1950 to 1963, was responsible for a single FA Cup win in 1956.

  17. 'We need to learn from Chelsea defeats'published at 11:58 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

Chelsea v Man City (12:30 BST)

    Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, speaking to BT Sport: "We need to learn from the defeats [against Chelsea]. It’s one of the toughest away Premier League games. We’re ready for it.

"Rodri made an incredible effort to be here. Kevin [de Bruyne] and Phil [Foden] are so important for us, but so are the others. Everyone is key. The season still has so many games, so everybody’s involved.

"We score many, many, many goals in the last years. Gabriel [Jesus] likes to play wider than central. Having a specialist striker is always important, but sometimes it’s not possible. We can do it without this."

  18. 'Werner is a good fit today'published at 11:55 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

Chelsea v Man City (12:30 BST)

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, speaking to BT Sport: "We need exactly the same mix of skilful play as in our last games, but also to be very emotional and aggressive.

"Timo [Werner] is a good fit today because he brings a good intensity to our game, on and off the ball. That is what we need. Maybe Kai [Havertz] and Hakim [Ziyech] are lacking a little bit of confidence. We’re happy that N’Golo [Kante] can play. Thiago [Silva] had some issues in training, otherwise he would have started.

"Pep Guardiola is doing what he always does. He brings out the best in his team. They have their style of play, we have ours. You can win football games with any player and with any characteristics. It’s necessary for us to be at our very top level. It’s very hard to predict. They have a lot of solutions and a lot of confidence."

Samrat Ray Chaudhuri: Is Fred paying Ole a cut to get his name on the team sheet? Ronaldo will probably be dropped before Ole thinks of dropping Fred. It's this mule stubbornness that will cost Ole his job.

Sho: Why is anyone surprised McFred is starting today? Donny and Matic could've scored a hat-trick each and McFred would've still started today.

  20. Solskjaer demands 'fast start'published at 11:49 British Summer Time 25 September 2021

Man Utd v Aston Villa (12:30 BST)

    Neil Johnston
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer uses his programme notes to demand a fast start from his Manchester United players as they hunt a fourth successive Premier League win.

Since hammering Leeds 5-1 on the opening weekend, United have led for a total of just 50 minutes in four top-flight games.

"I'd like us to address the slow starts because we've been making to games because we don't want that setting in and becoming an issue," writes Solskjaer.

The United boss also pays tribute to fans who have made an "unbelievable atmosphere" at Old Trafford.

"We have some new coaches at the club who were wondering if we might get 40,000 people turning up in the Carabao Cup," he adds.

"We explained to them that it would virtually be full and sure enough the place was packed and the atmosphere was exceptional."
