Southampton will try and get as many players as they can inside the pitch and the two full backs will push right on to give them the width.

They'll also try and control possession by outnumbering Wolves in the middle of the pitch which will be a real test for them.

This pitch looks absolutely magnificent and the weather is beautiful too!

Both teams are playing different shapes so it will be about who can get their spare players on the ball and hopefully this will lead to some goals this afternoon.

Last Saturday’s defeat by Brentford was something of a cold shower for the expectations of many Wolves supporters, which had been dialled up by their performances in three gallant losses and the eventual breakthrough win against Watford.

Their attacking play looked blunt and ineffectual compared with the efficient menace carried by the Bees, and in the closing minutes became entirely shapeless as Bruno Lage sent on all available attacking resources at the same time.

Spirits were revived to a degree by the response to falling two behind against Spurs in the Carabao Cup, although Wolves have probably had all the honourable defeats they can stand for a while.

Between the Southampton game today and Newcastle to come before the next international break, Lage's side need at least one victory to break the tension that suddenly seems to surround them.

Steve: People are going on about how awful Harry Kane is playing. He’s not had his best start to the season, but has scored 3 for Spurs and 3 for England. To take one comparison, Lukaku has scored 1 more in the same period, 4 for Chelsea 3 for Belgium and has got nothing but praise.

There's something special about the North London derby, especially for those who have come through the academy, its ingrained into you.

Things have changed since I was at Tottenham and both teams today are playing for pride and to get their season started.

    The games can be ferocious.

  18. Saints need a winpublished at 13:40 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    Southampton v Wolves (14:00 BST)

    Southampton

No wins in five but dig a little deeper and Southampton's start to the season hasn't been too bad.

Three of those games have been against Manchester City, Manchester United and West Ham who finished first, second and sixth in the table last season.

The Saints have drawn their last four top-flight games but boss Ralph Hasenhuttl admits an imminent victory is required to prevent pressure building.

With a game looming at Chelsea on 2 October, they could do with three points against Wolves.

"This is important for us to get the feeling that we are able to win again," says Hasenhuttl.

Great to see Raul Jimenez back on the pitch getting regular game time after last season's horror when the Wolves forward fractured his skull.

Jimenez must continue to wear his head protector for his own safety, even if it means re-learning how to head the ball, says boss Bruno Lage.

Lage accepts Jimenez is faced with a challenge "like heading with a helmet", but adds: "After the process we did to recover him we need to help him adapt."
