Foden has been fabulous in the false-nine position. He's picking up space, dropping off and the defenders don't know what to do with him. I think he's the best at performing that role.

Jack Grealish's first touch is superb and it takes him past the full-back. He gains a yard, pulls it back and Phil Foden is ready to poke it in before it's nicked away from him!

Here he is - and he should score!

It's cut-back from the left, Phil Foden lets it roll and Kevin de Bruyne is completely unmarked in the middle.

He controls it then tries to place it but it's straight at the keeper. The flag goes up to save his blushes but he probably should have buried that.

Kyle Walker makes a great run down the right and he's picked out by Rodri.

Jack Grealish is unmarked in the middle but Walker is stretching to keep it in play as he chips it back. The keeper beats Grealish to it.

Clinton Mata is getting stuck in tonight! He catches Bernardo Silva in the face after losing out on the header.

Yellow card for the Club Bruges man, a free-kick for City and a big tissue in Silva's mouth to stop his lip bleeding.

Phil Foden tries to float it over to Riyad Mahrez but it sails out for a throw-in.

There's a sarcastic jeer from the home fans.

Charles De Ketelaere is shoved over by Ruben Dias and wins a free-kick for Club Bruges on the left.

It's curled in but straight into the arms of Ederson.

Hans Vanaken can't get on the ball for Club Bruges. Every time the hosts win it back, City are straight at them again a few seconds later.

Rodri pulls a cross back into the middle now but Jack Grealish won't quite get there.

Club Bruges' shortlived break was looking for the run of Charles De Ketelaere but it rolls through harmlessly for Ederson.

City go back down the other end and build another attack.

Former Liverpool centre-back Sebastian Coates has put Sporting Lisbon ahead against Besiktas in the other early game.

If you're a Bruges fan, you'd have expected a little more from your team going forward. If they go on like this, City will eventually break through.

Club Bruges are starting to get caught out with those balls in behind.

Phil Foden gets on the wrong side of Jack Hendry and threatens to get away but the angle is tight.

Riyad Mahrez can't catch up in time and Foden has to shoot, dragging it wide and into the side-netting.

Rodri has the ball in the net again but it won't count.

It's a lovely free-kick routine from City. Chipped over the top for Aymeric Laporte and slid across the box for Rodri to poke in from close range.

The flag is up though and a quick VAR check confirms it.

Jack Grealish is heavily involved. He waits for the overlapping run of Bernardo Silva on the left, slips him in and the Portuguese's cut-back is hastily poked behind by Stanley Nsoki with Phil Foden lurking.

Silva is offside anyway though.

It's played over the top for Jack Grealish to give chase. He trips Clinton Mata but finishes the cool chip over the keeper just in case.

The whistle goes a few seconds after so the goal won't count but maybe that's Grealish letting Mata know he hasn't forgotten that challenge a few moments earlier...

Grealish has come across the defender and then goes down. It's very difficult to see if there was contact, but Grealish is confident there was.

City have settled very quickly.
