I have been disappointed with Atletico. They have not put two passes together, they are jogging around. Diego Simeone is shouting and screaming at everybody to up the tempo and it is Manchester United that are in control.

Ajax forward Sebastien Haller thought he'd added to his soaring Champions League goal haul there, but Dusan Tadic strayed offside in the build-up before squaring to give the former West Ham man a tap-in.

A lively start to this one in Amsterdam, with Ajax on top at the moment.

Andrew Mitchell: File that one under “goalkeepers are over protected”. What did Elanga do wrong? As much a foul by Oblak as it was Elanga - the United man got there long before the contact.

Michael Reid: Never a foul on Oblak. Why do goalkeepers get so much protection but yet can clobber into players as they see fit to win the ball?

I like the shape of the Manchester United team tonight - with the two wide men.

Bruno Fernandes is playing in the position he should play and we have two men in the middle who can put their foot on the ball and break up the play.

Cristiano Ronaldo wins a corner off Stefan Savic. Man Utd take it short and it's switched over to Anthony Elanga but his cross is cleared.

Alex Telles does well on the left to battle for possession but his cross goes straight out for a goal kick.

Atletico haven't got going yet.

It's not a free-kick, I'm sorry. That is a decent ball in and give Anthony Elanga credit, he had his eyes on the ball, heads the ball and has not touched the goalkeeper. There was nothing wrong with that challenge.

Big chance.

Cristiano Ronaldo wins it on the left, he links up with Jadon Sancho before it's switched across the middle.

It's lifted into the box and Anthony Elanga gets his head on it - beating Jan Oblak - but it's just over the bar.

The referee blows for a foul but Elanga had every right to go for that and he wasn't far away!

Cristiano Ronaldo is involved straight away, entertaining the crowd with some ball juggling to keep possession.

Bruno Fernandes makes a run in behind but the long ball heading his way is far too heavy.

So much riding on this for Manchester United and the volume levels have raised as kick-off approaches.
