Real Madrid 0-1 Chelsea (Agg: 3-2)

So far to go, but Chelsea have given themselves every chance now.

They'll be bouncing. Real will be nervous.

Real Madrid 0-1 Chelsea (Agg: 3-2)

Real Madrid look to get back sharply, but Vinicius Jr's low ball into the box is to nobody in white.

    Bayern Munich 0-0 Villarreal

Bayern get their first moment of promise as a diagonal from left-to-right is volleyed back into the six-yard box, where a cocktail of yellow and red shirts converge. It's hacked clear.

A neat lob into the area by Leon Goretzka causes a bit of panic. Is that comfortable Villarreal start over? Bayern growing...

This is on! It's wonderful finish and it dropped to Mason Mount perfectly. It was inch perfect around Thibaut Courtois.

Chelsea have stayed patient with the ball. They have kept it and recycled it. Real are twitching.

    Mason Mount

Now we've got a tie on!

Mason Mount was superb at Southampton at the weekend and it is he who sparks Chelsea's challenge back into life here.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek's flick on is pushed into the path of Mount by Timo Werner and the England man curls home.

    Just what Chelsea wanted.

Real Madrid 0-0 Chelsea (agg: 3-1)

Antonio Rudiger rises in the box to meet the corner but heads over.

Should probably have done better there.

    Encouraging for Chelsea, though.

Real Madrid 0-0 Chelsea (agg: 3-1)

    Chance!

Real lose the ball and Chelsea dart forward. Timo Werner can't quite beat his man in the box but Kai Havertz follows up for a shot the deflects wide off a Real man.

That was really clever by Vinicious Junior. That is a really dangerous position for Reece James to be booked already.

Good 80 minutes now for Reece James to survive on that yellow card and having to face the quick, tricky Vinicius Jr. Not ideal.

    Chelsea survive.

Karim Benzema hits the free-kick but clears the bar.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:10 British Summer Time 12 April 2022

Real Madrid 0-0 Chelsea (agg: 3-1)

Real free-kick on the edge of the box!

It comes from a wonderful nutmeg from Vinicius Jr. on Reece James, who has no choice but to drag the Brazilian down. He gets a yellow card too.

    Hold on to your hats...

    Bayern Munich 0-0 Villarreal

The Villarreal midfield as they drop into a 4-4-2 is Lo Celso, Capoue, Parejo and Coquelin.

What do those four have in common?

Away from our mini quiz, the side in yellow have started nicely here. They don't look a bit worried about the giant they need to take down tonight.

Real Madrid 0-0 Chelsea (agg: 3-1)

Chelsea almost fashion something as a cross from the left from Timo Werner skips behind a couple of team-mates in the box.

    So slick from Real.

A fine attacking move sees Karim Benzema flick the ball to Vinicius Jr. on the left, but his low cross is cut out and cleared.

High quality stuff, though, until the end.

  15. 'Chelsea throwing players forward'published at 20:06 British Summer Time 12 April 2022

Real Madrid 0-0 Chelsea (agg: 3-1)

    Rob Green

Chelsea know what they have to do and they are certainly committing bodies forward. They are leaving Thiago Silva almost one-on-one with Karim Benzema.

Real Madrid 0-0 Chelsea (agg: 3-1)

Karim Benzema's first real touch in the Chelsea half is halted by N'Golo Kante, tracking back and timing his tackle to perfection in true Kante style.

    Bayern Munich 0-0 Villarreal

Villarreal are in a 4-4-2 and sit in, compact without the ball. You'll know the man Phil Dawkes started this live page with an image of Mike Bassett, who also loved the 4-4-2 setup.

Bayern are expansive, trying to make the pitch big early on. Thomas Muller is flagged offside and so far, Villarreal look happy to knock it around at the back and settle in.

Reece James will be minding Vinicius Jr. tonight by the looks of it. That'll be a right old tussle.

Thomas Tuchel is already up and waving his arms around. His staff take the brunt of his frustration, but they know the score. Just sit impassive and let him scream it out.

Whistles as Chelsea patiently play the ball around in the Real half. Antonio Rudiger fires a low cross into the middle but David Alaba clears.
