Leroy Sane... free-kick... 35 yards out... big build-up...into the wall.

Someone took that on the head and they stood there and took it like they were trying to stay in a Champions League quarter-final. Gutsy. You love to see it.

Bayern at it again... the boy Sane refusing to go quietly... he jinks in the area and cuts a ball back.... Dayot Upamecano can level.... over the bar. He couldn't get over it.

Unai Emery is doing that 'calm down' motion to his players. As if it's that easy!

Antonio Rudiger is waving to the Chelsea fans telling them to lift it. He has lifted this team! He's up against Luka Modric who has no chance, he just brushes him away. It's a brilliant header and a brilliant start to the second half.

Oh, this is a good chance for Real!

The cross is deep to the back post and Karim Benzema meets it, brings it down but can't get his shot away. The reason? A last-ditch touch from Reece James. Brilliant defending.

Real Madrid 0-2 Chelsea (Agg: 3-3)

Considering the circumstances, considering the opponent, this has been one of the finest European away displays I can remember so far.

They have managed this superbly from the very start.

    Antonio Rudiger

    ALL SQUARE!

Antonio Rudiger rises highest to meet the corner and heads Chelsea into a 2-0 lead and parity in the tie.

My word, Chelsea have been good tonight.

What a comeback. It is all there now for the Blues to finish this off.

    Close!

A corner is only half-cleared and Marcos Alonso fires a low return ball. It deflects to Reece James, who fires a low shot just wide.

    Took a touch. Another corner.

Early bluster from Bayern Munich. A Leroy Sane cross comes in, Jamal Musiala gets it down but Geronimo Rulli is out to dive at him and get the ball clear. It wouldn't come down for Musiala.

A sign of things to come?

Is this really the same Real Madrid that won 3-1 at Stamford Bridge? That currently lead La Liga by 12 points?

  9. Postpublished at 21:06 British Summer Time 12 April 2022

Real Madrid 0-1 Chelsea (Agg: 3-2)

Chelsea have picked up exactly where they left off. It really has been a masterclass of an away display so far. Just needs those finishing blows.

  10. KICK-OFFpublished at 21:06 British Summer Time 12 April 2022

Bayern Munich 0-0 Villarreal (Agg: 0-1)

Bayern had one shot on target in the first half.

That will not cut the mustard at this stage.

    We crack on...

Another Chelsea chance. More of a half one. Timo Werner's shot is blocked and Thibaut Courtois dives to stop it going out for a corner. He does so but leaves the ball loose, causing a coming together of three players, including Kai Havertz. The Chelsea man is ruled to have committed a foul. Not sure about that.

    Big chance!

Chelsea win the ball and are drive on down the right. Ruben Loftus-Cheek is found on the overlap but his low cross is hacked away from Timo Werner by Nacho.

Bayern Munich 0-0 Villarreal (Agg: 0-1)

You can see from the image below that Bayern Munich have been sent wide in many of their attacks. The left flank - where Kingsley Coman does his work - has been their most-used avenue.

Raul Albiol at the heart of the Villarreal back four has made eight clearances so far and is very much at the heart of the resistance.

Davros Flatley: If there was ever a big game player, signed for big game moments, it’s Kai Havertz. His name will be up in lights after 90 minutes

Dan Riordan: The pressing and energy from Chelsea has been great but could really do with creating a few more chances

    How about this then...

Real Madrid have failed to land a shot on target in the first half of a home Champions League game for the first time since Opta shot data is available (2003-04).

Of the last 15 Champions League matches in which Real conceded the opening goal, the result of five of those matches would be enough to see tonight's match at least go to extra time, including Chelsea's 2-0 home win against Real in last season's semi-final.

HT: Real Madrid 0-1 Chelsea (Agg: 3-2)

Chelsea are unbeaten in 20 successive Champions League away matches in which they scored the opening goal (W16-D4-L0), since a 3-1 loss at Napoli on 21 February 2012.

They kept a clean sheet in 14 of those 20 matches, and the result of nine of those 20 matches would be enough to see tonight's match at least go to extra time.

  20. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:50 British Summer Time 12 April 2022

Bayern Munich 0-0 Villarreal (Agg: 0-1)

    Exquisite from Villarreal so far.

Held their line, dealt with a barrage of crosses and even had a shot into the side netting from Gerard Moreno to end the half.

The man Unai Emery has posed Julian Nagelsmann a Wordle and the Bayern manager is on his final guess.
